Who is your favorite President? |
|
It's that time again, and maybe opinions have changed since I last asked this question. Plus, we had to write an essay in response to a question on a test in my history class today, so I figured if I had to suffer through a four paragraph defense of Harry Truman, you should share some of the pain, too. :D
So who's your favorite President and why?

He really was the last President that I can think of that, even though it was a very close election, had gained a lot of respect AFTER he was elected!
He managed to get a lot of Pugs on his side, and did more to Unify Americans than almost any other President/
Yes, he made some mistakes, like the Bay of Pigs invasion. But he had the courage and sincerity to go before the public and admit "I made a mistake and I appologize."
When was the last time you heard that???

Teddy is first because of his personality, then add in the real important things like first food purity laws in America, beginnings of the national park system, Nobel Peace Prize. In the end up with a Republican who was pretty damn cool. Franklin if you just rate him for historical reason should be #1. I mean he began the social safety net thatt he Republicans seem so damned intent on destroying and he more or less saved Democracy.

He could have molded the country pretty much any way he wanted to. He did a pretty good job overall.

FDR-hands down. Despite his attempted stacking of the SCOTUS and the horrible internment of the Japanese-Americans, he provided some much needed hope for those that suffered most during the depression. If it weren't for his idea to provide Americans with jobs during the depression, my mother and her family would've starved. I also like the fact that he provided artists with a way to make a living. Would that fly now? I don't think so.

With FDR, his goods far outweigh his bads, when you add up the sum total of the man's acheivements.
