Poll question: What would bring America and Amurrika together again?
It's the Lounge so feel free to be as frivolous (or as serious) as you like. Don't be mean though.:)

4. Reclaiming the media
Its that simple. A democracy needs a vibrant and objective press. Without it the people cannot form properly informed descisions. As the media stands today it is the most base of spinning and manipulating. The news no longer investigates and instead just reads scripts. This is no way to enable a properly informed democracy.

6. A worker walk out
If you are making little $, no big deal, if you are making lots of $, on the people making little $, big deal.

It will not happen today, but it is getting so tight for the low wage earners, they are either going to go backrupt today or next week. If we continue on the course we are, it will be coming sooner than later. So, why wait?

7. Ummm - where's the "sorry - it's too late" choice?
.
.
.

I DO believe that the US is going to have a downward journey before it can hope to climb back up

The Administrations have too long been operating under some sort of superiority complex, Manifest Destiny, the PNACers, whatever . .

United States is ONE country among hundreds, and other than claiming to be the best country in the world, I don't see much supporting evidence.

America is an oil junkie that can't support it's own habit, and like the worst of some junkies, is willing to kill and steal to support that habit.

Gotta be more independent, nurture some humility: this walking tall and carrying a big stick might be beating off the others for now, but we are getting tired of the bully next door, and so is the world.

Friends lost are hard, if not impossible to get back, and the US is alienating and tossing old friends to the breeze on a whim, making alliances with people who suit their IMMEDIATE needs, then dumping them (or even invading them) when they are done with them . .

We're starting to notice . . .

12. I like that
'oil junkie' I've never heard us called that, but it is true, and it would be good if we acknowledged it in such stark terms.

thanks!

since the last hot one would bring the country together quite nicely.

9. If the poor workers didn't work the US would
collapse. The worker's rights of Communism are real, I am a Christian Capitalist, not a Capitalist. But, new, I see a Capitalist in the the name of Christ, socialism. Give me time. I may change my views.

11. "Point Of No Return"
There used to be a signal on planes when they flew across the oceans that signaled when the amount of gas in their tank would only get them to the next land; they couldn't turn back and return.

I think we as a society are about 3 miles away from the "Point Of No Return" signal to go on.

Just my Canuck Opinion of course . .

16. I'm a US Expat living in Canada..
2005 is going to be a pivitol year; I'm so glad I'm not living in the US now, as much as it pains me to say it. It's just too crazy now, with little hope of getting better in the long-term.

19. The concern is that ConcernedCanuk is correct. Probably too late now.
It seems in the future that there will be gallows humor about the way people used to talk about the other " Dark Age " when it will appear they lost so little in comparison to what is likely to be gone this time.
Dark will not likely start to describe the lack of reason and light in the pit this world is headed into.
So the old dark ages, LOL, dim at best, if the human species last beyond another 100 years given the current path and people in power.

When and if the humans survive or possibly avoid it, will only be by embracing truth, knowledge and critical thinking.
