Anyone Had a Kidney Stone Basketed?
I have an 8mm stone in the left renal pelvis that seems to be the cause of the nearly eight straight months of kidney infections I've been having. I'm seeing the urologist next week, and they'll probably take it out through percutaneous surgery or through cystoscopic basketing. I read the description of basketing ... does it hurt as mush as it's described, or more?

I'm going to lobby hard for percutaneous. Hell, I'm going to be under general either way; I see no reason to make me wish for death upon awakening! I had a percutaneous kidney biopsy with no anesthesia - no biggie.

1. Dad Has Had It Done More than Once
He has had recurrent kidney stones for nearly 25 years now. In that time he has had 15 lithotripsies. He also had one full surgical removal of a stone. His incision started near his navel and went around nearly to his spine. That's the one you want to avoid. He has always been a bit tender after the basket procedures but it doesn't seem to last more than a couple of days. And his doctor has always been generous with the pain meds.
