about 3:30 our time, DU locked up on me and Randi Rhodes went silent...I looked over at the modem and there was only one light on...this happened yesterday for about five minutes so I just closed up all the open windows and went to the back yard and beat the crap out of some wiffle balls with a 5-iron....
by 5 o'clock...nothing...nada...so I called Charter..we walked through all the normal trouble-shooting and still couldn't get it to work so the tech rep said she'd send a technician....she sent two...
they diagnosed the modem and then told me that my neighbors modem was down also....they hooked a meter up to my cable and came up with a :wtf: ?????
They went outside and went up the pole.....modem came back up just a little while ago...
I'm impressed....Charter Cable came late and stayed until they fixed the problem....not bad customer service....not bad at all....I think I'll refrain from badmouthing Charter for a week or two... :evilgrin:

Can you bad mouth Time-Warner for me? :-)
Every other day I lose signal for at least an hour and Time Warner tells me there's nothing wrong whenever they send a tech out so I've just given up. Their DNS has gotten so bad that I ripped RoadRunner's entries out of /etc/resolv.conf in Linux and put Verizon's Tier 3 in, and in Windows I installed TreeWalk. At least now it's lightning fast -- when it's up.
