I'm tired, but I just can't sleep
I'm still in shock over the job thing...then my husband bought "The day After" on DVD...I may never sleep again.

9. Damn !!!!!
I did miss that thread, but I just read the whole thing. And you were on my mind since Friday. I'm sorry that you didn't get the job, I would have bet a body part that you were going to get it!!!!
Union politics can be a bitch. I have to assume that the person that got the job had an inside connection. It didn't matter that you were more qualified, and it was probably a done deal from the start.

12. Yeah, my thoughts exactly
It was either that they had someone who was more bilingual than me, or better connected. I knew that I had the top score on the computer tests. I've been working on my Spanish, trying to get back up to speed, and my stepdad has been a union member his entire working life.

3. I'm not a bit surprised that you can't sleep...
You will be in shock over the job loss. Of course, because it was huge for you; you had invested a lot of yourself in this quest. I really don't have any suggestions as to how you can get to sleep; I'm sorry. I wish I could help. I know you feel isolated right now. That's one of the hard parts in grief. Being out here on DU will help that sense of isolation. Perhaps your husband can help too. I'm sure he's also upset over it, judging from what you said earlier. He needs to support you emotionally during this difficult time. I hope he will...

My mantra: This Too Shall Pass (I hope I'm not repeating myself!)

5. I think the worst part is knowing that
I'll have to keep going to the helljob every day.

The other half is being a major dick...he was looking forward to spending lots of money, now he's disappointed.

7. Oh God.
How shallow can you get? I can't believe it...no, I mean, I believe you, but this is unbelievable! How can he be thinking of just the money? You are WAY more important! I hope he comes to his senses, and right quickly too...

10. I called him on my way home and told him
He didn't say anything...I thought my cell dropped the call. I said "Hello?"...he was still there. I just told him I'd talk to him when I got home. He's hardly said three words to me all night...as if I did something to NOT get the job. Yeah, he's an ass. If I got the job, I'd be able to remedy that situation.

4. Tired but not sleeping is my world
although in my case I think it has less to do with stress. I'm just one of those people. It sucks though if you're aren't used to it. Hope you do better tomorrow night.

6. I considered taking a Soma
I had to last night for muscle spasms...but then I dreamed that Terri died and the protesters rioted, so I passed tonight.

8. Sleeping pills give me strange dreams
Don't know why. Nyquil, on the occasions I have taken it, has been especially bad.

11. I don't need meds for strange dreams
I'm not sure if the Soma brought on the dream last night, or reading GD.

13. I considered putting in my tape of the SOTU
Every time I've tried to watch it I crash...but I'm afraid I might get bad dreams from it.
