TV is dead! Long live Anime!
Sheesh. Prime time network is a wasteland. Anime shows me good programming can still be made. But its a question of wanting to do it. And its clear our corporate masters have no interest in coming up with intelligent programming any longer.

Give me Trigun or Full Metal Alchemist over any reality show. Inuyasha has more interesting characters than the any court room series. Ghost in the Shell makes you think more than any silly Infotainment program.

Seriously. If you haven't given Anime a try check it out. Its not the stuff your kids are watching. Its not simply a cartoon. The creators of Anime respect their audience far more than any network producers.

1. I rented Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade, just the other night
And it made me wish that animation in the U.S. was treated as a serious art form that adults could enjoy, like it is in Japan.

2. Difficult ideas explored in that story
Even live action stories here have to be prechewed for the audience.

3. I was never into Anime
But more power to you if you like it. It is growing RAPIDLY to say the least. And it's true, some of it is very violent, even sexual. Not meant for kids at all.

4. One's introduction to it can make all the difference in the world
Not all anime is violent or sexy. It has as broad a range as any artform. Even in the cute genres there can be an incredible exploration of ideas that are more fit for adults than children.

6. My introduction to Anime was the Robotech cartoons
Though they were packaged as kids cartoons here in the states, I couldn't help but notice that they were a different breed than their American counterparts.

Not only did the "good guys" not always win, they died with alarming frequency (just like in real wars).

I found this to be a rather refreshing take compared to GI Joe, where no one ever died, good or bad.

After that, I became more of a fan of anime as time went by.

8. My Introduction was Dragonball-Z
Thought it was allright. Probably not as cool as some of the other stuff the genre has to offer.

9. Dragonball... some love it
Its typical of the type that usually gets brought over to the US for distribution. Not a lot of depth to the plot.

5. I want the Anime Network
I had the On Demand version of that channel when I had cable. Hopefully when Direct TV adds new channels they will add that. I requested it but I'm crossing my fingers.

10. I burned out with anime late last year
a year of reviewing, dozens upon dozens of series, and films... finally I just couldn't stand it anymore.

"Stellvia volume 1 Foundations" was the last straw for me.

14. Dang
Well it happens. Sorry to hear it. Though the shift doesn't look to severe based on your Yojimbo avatar and sig.
