"How do I get the film out of my digital camera?"
I had a person ask me this question on the phone this morning. I told them to stop by later and I'd help them. I assumed they didn't know how to remove the memory card.

They stopped by earlier and to show me the camera. I looked at it and said it doesn't even have a memory card in it. I noticed when they handed me the camera it felt kind of wiggly, like it wasn't held together very well. They asked what a memory card was. I explained and got my camera and took mine out, showing it to them. While I was writing down what they type of memory card they needed to buy they asked me, "so there's no film in it?" I said, no, it works by storing the pics on the memory, pretty nifty, huh? They said, "that explains why when I opened it up I couldn't find any." I looked at them and picked the camera back up looking at it. What did you open on it, it has a sealed case, I said. They went on to explain they had pried the camera in two looking for the film.

I threw batteries in the camera and couldn't get it to even power up. They'd broken something when they pried it apart, this did explain the odd wiggly feeling the camera had.

A brand new camera, dead from abuse.

Moral of the story, read the instructions! :eyes:

I mean, wow! I'm afraid of what my face must have looked like when I realized what they had done. Again, wow!

40. I can't top it, but I WAS an idiot one day . . .
It was while using a Mac at Kinko's many, many moons ago. I can't remember what I was doing but I couldn't get it done. Finally I called a clerk over and asked, "How do I get out to DOS?"

:dunce:

43. You were just lost in PC land.
When I was using a Mac at work for the first time I commented on how the OS was similar to windows. My boss, a Mac enthusiast, told me it did but Mac used it first and had perfected the idea. Windows was a cheap knock off. I just keep my comparisons to myself after that. :)

5. One would think the first clue would have been....
...the fact that they never actually LOADED THE CAMERA with film.

Yeah, them there new-fangled cameras come with film already loaded up and ready to shoot!

I'll tell ya, on presentation of the camera, I would have been looking to insert the feeding tube. But if they actually knew the instructions existed, they would not have been quite PVS yet. LOL.

29. "That's why it's called DIGITAL"
A few years ago, ginbarn gave me a Largan digital camera. It only had a max. resolution of 640x480, but it gave me a chance to find out how cool digital could be compared to analog. It was fun to use. I later got my hands on a Sony 3.1MP camera, complete with USB port, memory stick, etc.

It's not that hard. Just swallow your pride and read the instructions.

At least this wasn't a very expensive camera, it looked like something he'd ordered out of a discount catalog.
