The DU FAQs have been updated! Here's my favorite part: |
|
Why was I banned?
People get banned from DU for many different reasons. The four most common reasons people are banned are: 1) They are conservative, 2) They are uncivil or disruptive, 3) They repeatedly break the rules, or 3) They have been previously banned under a different username.
LMAO. That just struck me as funny while I was reading it. I love seeing that.

5. this place is more or less nice but |

I still feel hopeless sometimes...People are starting to like George W and the repugs because they're being brainwashed by most of the media and by the way they don't like hearing from sad sacks like me! And I must ask you what exactly are we now to hope for?

8. People are starting to like Bush????? |
|
Where did you get that impression? Bush's job ratings are down. If anything I think that people are starting to catch on to his lies. Plus the economy is going into the tank because of W's insane policies.
Have faith Mr. Kitten, Bush's administration has peaked and is starting to decline.

4. sometimes I feel like a conservative |
|
compared to the group here. Kind of a funny way for a socialist to feel, no. I figure I am the opposite of Bill Clinton. He was economically conservative and socially liberal, at least in speech. I am economically liberal and socially conservative, except according to the political compass where I was -3 on the social scale (with positives being conservative). That answer kinda implies that conservative, or even moderate, democrats might also be banned. So how conservative is too conservative and on what issues? Also, I tend to react negatively to simplistic stereotypes, such as the suggestion, albeit humorous in this case, that conservatives cannot be civil, decent, and rule-abiding. Other than official members of the BFEE, I do not think it is helpful to demonize members of the other party. But it does work as a joke.

14. In the posting rules, it is more detailed and says |
|
if you think bush is doing a good job you don't belong at DU. I think that is far more specific.

15. but that is not conservative |
|
it is just ignorant, or self-serving (if I was in the top 10% I might feel that Bush was good for me, but still bad for my country. Even that is debatable, as I wrote: "For all of his tax cuts for the wealthy, Bush has not done very well for them either. From 1999 to 2000 the net worth of the Forbes 400 went from 1 trillion to 1.2 trillion. From 2003 to 2004 the net worth of the Forbes 400 increased 45 billion to 1 trillion. So the Forbes 400 has apparently lost 200 billion dollars since Bush took office.")

the next great part of the Democratic coalition is going to be those conservatives who realize they've been hornswoggled by the BFEE-- the people who realize that the petrocrats and the rapturists have no intention of conserving anything they (and we) love about America.
So identifying as "conservative" should not be sufficient condition for tombstoning.
There are carloads of things I want to conserve: the environment, the food supply, the gene pool, the Constitution, especially the Bill of Rights, Social Security, public education... and if we could maybe roll marijuana licensing laws back to pre-World War I :smoke:

13. You know what the admins mean, though. |
|
In this context and time, they mean if you are a bush lover. Not all conservatives love bush and some republicans (little "r") are posting here and are known republicans, but voted for Kerry and are very unhappy with bush, so of course, they are allowed here.
