Malcolm as Harry Potter?

Warner Bros. announced today that beginning with Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix they will replace Daniel Radcliffe with American actor Frankie Muniz in the lead role of Harry Potter.

According to spokesperson, "After watching dailies from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, it became evident that Mr. Radcliffe did not have the emotional range necessary to properly portray Harry in the last three movies, which are quite darker in tone." The final casting of Muniz was made after taking into consideration the input from author J.K. Rowling, who happens to be a big 'Malcolm in the Middle' fan.



Is this an Aprils Fools joke? I DID find another article that said Frankie Muniz was a contender for the part. This could be real.

because JK Rowling has a stipulation with the producers that only British actors can be cast in the films. I should add that when a character is from another country (i.e., Viktor Krum), they need not be British.

Directors are another story. Chris Columbus is American, I believe, (Sorcerer's Stone, Chamber of Secrets), Alfonso Cuaron is Mexican
(Prisoner of Azkaban), Mike Newell is British (currently directing Goblet of Fire)
