When was the last time you liked a song by ... ?
Edited on Fri Apr-01-05 08:26 PM by undisclosedlocation
Chicago?
Rod Stewart?
Sting?
Styx?
U2?
McCartney?

Had to throw in Paul to avoid getting nothing but Never. Never. Never. Never. replies

Me?
"Harry Truman," though the comeback record after Kath's death, "Alive Again," was ok;
Guess "Young Turks" was ok;
"If I Ever Lose My Faith";
Uhhhhhhhhhhhh, the uh, one with the spaceships and angels that everybody here hates. :hide: Hey, at least it isn't "Mr. Roboto";
I like nearly all their stuff, but "Acrobat" and "Who Wants To Ride Your Wild Horses" were the last ones to make any discernible difference in my life;
and "Junior's Farm."

You?

Edit: I'd left Rod out of my litany of embarrassing admissions.

1. OK..
Chicago: About 1975
Sting: 1991
U2: 1993, I thought "Zooropa" wasn't as bad an album as made out to be.
Styx, Rod Stewart: Always sucked
McCartney: 1981-82

2. Mine...
Chicago - anything from the unreleased "Stone of Sisyphus" album. Kind of a return to form after the Peter Cetera, then Diane Warren eras.

Rod Stewart - Ick. Never.

Sting - Probably "We'll Be Together", or that album in general.

Styx - Several songs from the last studio album. Some great rockers that showed they didn't need DeYoung.

U2 - I liked a bunch of the tunes from the last album. Haven't heard the new one yet.

McCartney - Hmm...tough call, as I really haven't heard his most recent studio stuff. I really liked "Flowers In The Dirt", though.

3. Yo--why you sticking U2 with a bunch of has beens?
Anyway,

Uh...I know there's a famous Chicago song that I probably wouldn't turn if it came on the radio, but I can't tell the diff. between them and most other geographically named bands...

Rod Stewart--Broken Arrow, Downtown Train, the Motowny song he did...I think I bought that album once, actually. I want his body and I think he's sexy.

Sting--Desert Rose was good, I'm generally a fan...but I LOVE "Shape of My Heart". Love love love love.

Styx...uh...

U2--They're my favorite band. Currently, it's...oh I don't know... "Love and Peace"/"Miracle Drug"...

McCartney--"Maybe I'm Amazed", even though it was post-Beatles, which generally I abhor.

5. Hmmm....
Chicago - I think Chicago 17 was about it for me.

Rod Stewart - I only like a few of his songs, and mostly from the early 80's

Sting - I haven't heard anything by him since the early 90's, and I think he's pretty much been in a steady decline.

Styx - Their latest album has a lot of good stuff on it, and unlike many here I also like "Kilroy Was Here".

U2 - The new stuff seems pretty good although I have yet to hear it. I actually like their newer stuff a little more than their early stuff.

McCartney - Early 80's again. I borrowed "Driving Rain" or whatever that is from the library and *cough* saved it for posterity, but I have yet to listen to it on Musicmatch.

7. Let's see...
Chicago: I like these guys a lot, but they haven't recorded much "regular" music for about a decade or so (just Xmas album, "Big Band" album, etc.). The last ones I cared for a lot were on 19 which was in 1989 or so. I like their eighties sound, but prefer their seventies stuff.

Rod: Probably "Downtown Train" or "Rhythm of My Heart" which are from the early nineties or so.

Sting: "Fields of Gold" or "When We Dance" which are also early to mid-nineties.

Styx: Post-breakup I'm only familiar with "Show Me the Way" from '90, which was OK. They recorded a new album a couple years ago which I might have liked alright, but never heard anything from.

U2: I liked "Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out of" from album before last quite a bit. "Walk on" was alright, too.

McCartney: "From a Lover to a Friend" from his last studio album is beautiful. That album had quite a few good songs actually.
