What's your screen name in Cherokee? |
|
Edited on Sat Apr-02-05 01:03 AM by Ladyhawk
If it translates, I mean. :D I'm part Cherokee. http://www.wehali.com/tsalagi/index.cfmhttp://www.manataka.org/page122.htmlhttp://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Stadium/7075/cherokee/cpicsModern/eng-cher.htmlI'm not sure, but I think the describing adjective comes after the noun, but I'm not sure. Anyone know Cherokee syntax? I'm Hawk Woman or Hawk Lady: Ta-wa-di A-ge-lv or Ta-wo-di A-ge-lv or Tla-nu-wa A-ge-lv or Tsi-wo-di A-ge-lv or Tla-nu-wa A-gi-ya or Ta-wa-di A-da or Ta-wo-di A-da or Tla-nu-wa A-da or Tsi-wo-di A-da Tsi-wo-di A-da looks like this in Cherokee:

3. "Parrot" is tsi-s-qua-ga-wo-ni-s-gi |
|
Edited on Sat Apr-02-05 01:05 AM by Ladyhawk
I could be "Parrot Woman"
Tsi-s-qu-ga-wo-ni-s-gi A-da :D That's a mouthful. Imagine teaching your bird to say, "I'm a pretty parrot" in Cherokee. :D
Hmmm, I'm going to go eat qua-nu-na-s-di. So there.

6. couldn't find the exact words |
|
my screen name is Sanskrit, and the exact words didn't come up.
Vajra = diamond, adamantine, eternal, "always" (I'm having to fudge a bit to get a word that's closest)
roshana = wrath, "anger"
(my nic refers to a notion in tantric buddhism of the transmutation of ordinary anger into the wisdom of clarity that seems wrathful, but is absolutely clear without the distortions of emotionality, if that makes any sense)
So, the closest I found in Tsalagi was
"always" = ni-go-hi-lv-i "anger" = ka-na-lv-i-s-di

7. No translation for mine. |
|
I wonder if I could get any ideas for a better screen name? I'd like to let the people who know me pick, but Daisy May doesn't make me feel too good, hehe.

Which is "nut that is poison", I guess. Odd that there was no word for "vomit."
