7. This time last year I was living in Germany ...
and I would have traveled to Rome or either Poland . As a non-Catholic , I am very moved by the tributes to Pope John Paul II . He is the only Pope I have known in my lifetime . I did not agree with everything he said but I respected him because he was a man of convictions and stuck to his beliefs . I remember him telling Clinton not to let the millenium come to a close with the Balkans still at war with another . How right was he ? - He was very right . Having the guts to stand up to Bush , he gets an A in my book . Whoever the next Pope will be , he has some big shoes to feel . I send my condolences to all my Catholic friends here on the DU and in the offline world . My bf ( who is in Iraq , please pray for him too ) is Catholic , I have not spoken to him yet but I am sure he is moved at this moment .

11. i wish i could be there too
He, too, is the only pope i've known and yeah, there are some things i disagree with too, but you can't overlook all the great the Holy things that he has done. I think he gets an A for meeting with the man who shot him to forgive him. I thank you for your support and your boyfriend will be in my prayers. I pray that he comes home soon and above all safe.

16. Thank you :)
 I just listened to a mass where Cardinal Egan ( I think that was him ) shared the story of how Pope John Paul II visted the prison where his would be assasin was being held and how he " forgave him " . It was very touching . How many of us would forgive someone who wanted to do harm to us ? Amazing :)

She's married with a little girl, last I knew.

Wonder who's watching her child while she travels?

22. I like Aaron Brown -- he's kind of like a friendly uncle.
However, his show comes on at odd times. I'm always in the kitchen cleaning up after dinner or going to a movie preview somewhere.

6. She married Jamie Rubin,
late of Madeleine Albright's State Department - he was the spokesman.

They live in London, and have a son who's named after JFK, Jr., who was one of Amapoure's housemates while they were at Brown.

Why do I know crap like this?

18. Ive yet to see one so thats probably why
I feel moved by knowing he was one of a select few who risked their lives by standing up to the nazis and the USSR. It takes a special man to do that.
