Fuckin' Indiana Toll Road!!!!! |
|
I got off to get cheap gas before I got into Chicago. Unfortunately, the exit ramp to the gas station had a series of about 10 to 20 potholes that were very deep. I went over one of them, and as I was getting gas, I noticed that my tire was flat. The attendants in the station gave me a few numbers to call, and talked to the State Police, but they said I have to call some place on Monday.
Are they obligated to pay for my tire? They should be if they keep their TOLL roads in such bad repair. Of course, I have racing rims and expensive tires, as well as All-Wheel Drive on my car, so I can't just get one new tire and leave all the other ones half worn. I haven't even had time to check my rim to make sure it isn't cracked.
Was I wrong for leaving before filing a report with the police? Has anyone been through this before?

1. You should pull into one of those truck rest areas.. |
|
They have out houses for restrooms and you'd think driving across the parking lot that you were out in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. You should see what they charge an 18 wheeler to run this toll road.

2. You're stuck with the bill. If states paid for tires that their road made |
|
flat, they'd be bankrupt.

5. Well, this was just negligence. |
|
I wasn't exaggerating when I said 10-20 LARGE potholes on the off-ramp alone. In fact, there could have been 30. Is there any way I could sue them?
It's not that far...I am on the South Side of Chi-town, and I could easily drive out and take pictures.

4. They should pay people to visit that pathetic excuse for a state. |
|
Not the other way around. Maybe the toll is what you pay in order to get out as fast as possible.

7. doubt it - there is likely some disclaimer on the ticket... |
|
... that provides for the assumption of risk when driving on the road. You probably would only have a case against them if they designed / maintained the road in a criminally negligent fashion.
