Poll question: How do you and your partner organize your bank accounts?
My partner and I, who have one checking account, know several gay couples who maintain three accounts (one joint and two individual). So, I was wondering how common that is. Thus, this poll.

1. Stupid fundie freaks. If you could get married you could do like...
I do. I push all that off onto my wife. Granted she could totally screw it up but at least it wouldnt be my fault. hehehe

2. "Separate joint accounts"
If that makes any sense. We each maintain a checking account that both of us are listed on. I think that works best for us since we both have jobs and split the bills pretty evenly.

7. That's the way we do it, too
It works great. I handle the bills, my H pays for the food, his own credit cards, entertainment, travel and anything else extra. I think it works out pretty even.

3. Happily married for 30+ years
One checking account. For better or worse I do all the fiduciary business in our household. It's not my money and her money, its our money and in our home that works out just fine.

5. She explained it to me when we got married:
"What's mine is MINE, and what's yours is OURS."

4. One account
I don't know if that's a mistake or not. Before we got married, we had to take a marriage compatibility test. We scored 0% on the money section, while scoring around 80% in most other areas. He is unemployed now. I have let him take care of the finances, but with the calls from the bill collectors that might be a mistake. Even when he was employed and we were doing better financially, I felt less free to spend money than he has. Perhaps, when he necomes employed again and we get our finances under control, it would be better to have two accounts so I would feel more freedom to actually use my money if I want.
