Hubby plays in a brass ensemble. They will do the processional and recessional. The DJ will do the dance stuff.

and beer too. The place doesn't allow hard liquor. It's on the campus where my son graduated from college (Berkeley). Pretty place. Nice room. Lovely patio.

OK, I'm sorry, but I don't understand. Booze is OK, but not SOME booze? I don't drink wine or beer, if I can avoid it. Wine gives me a headache and beer makes me sleepy. I'd probably bring a flask, but then to be really happy I'd need to bring in some club soda too.
When I go to a party where there's consummation of alcoholic beverages, I want what I like to drink. I know...I'm selfish.
I went to a cousin's wedding where there was just wine and beer and I thought it was...um...tacky?
I'm sorry, you're probably really nice folks and this is beyond your control, but I'd probably just send a present and not attend.
This hasn't helped at all, has it? Mazel tov to the happy couple. Honest. :-)

Just the way it is. It will work for them since they don't drink much.
We can have champagne too. If that helps. :-)

The happy couple live in NYC but want to get married out here. I think I will have a huge phone bill before this is over.
I got a book on weddings. Ack!. Much different from when I got married - in the vacant lot next to my in-laws vacation home out in the middle of nowhere.
My head hurts!

7. The best thing you can learn.... |
|
is how to smile and nod and not say a word! My daughter is getting married in May - this has been in the planning for a year now and oy vey the craziness.
Having been through it before, I learned the value of the above advice, unfortunately the Grooms mother didn't know better and has found herself in some tricky situations.
Remember to say over and over - "yes dear, that sounds fine - whatever you want to do - it's your wedding".
Enjoy!!!!

to take that approach. As is my son. "Whatever she wants, " he says cautiously (and wisely.)
But I am having to coordinate a lot of this - finding the place, hooking up with caterers, music, invitations, etc. I'll probably do the flowers.

9. What kind of theme? We did a Victorian style wedding, though |
|
no real band/musicians, and no tea at the garden reception.

What went form a picnic in the park has turned into my son in a tux. I think it will be fairly traditional. I'd like to do something a bit original but don't really have a clue on what it would be.

I hope it isn't foggy and cold. The wedding is in August. Never can tell around here if will be nice that time of year. There are 3 fireplaces in the room so I guess we can burn some chairs if we have to.
