Anyone watching American Idol?

I rarely watch this show, and have no idea how far along the competition is, but I have it on right now.

It seems like the announcer guy, the young guy with blonde hair, keeps cutting off Simon's (I think that's his name) comments - Simon is the rude British guy. In fact, the announcer guy said to one of the contestants that Simon 'had only described himself' when he said a song left him cold, and just right now totally cut Simon off saying 'we don't need to hear anymore of this'.

Now is this for real, or all part of the act, kinda like pro wrestling.

Simon is looking pissed.

Simon is a jerk and the others get fed up with it. But they also know it makes for fairly entertaining TV.

5. Oh yeah it's bad TV

but for background noise it's not too bad. Cuz you can zone in and out, there' no story line to really follow.

I read a Neil Young interview not to long ago, even he confesssed to getting wrapped up in once. But honestly I'm not wrapped up in it, I got a little interested during the first one, right at the end of the season, but now I could care less.

The other two seem to accept a lot of "Talent" (Ha!) than Simon.

4. It was a weird night ...

Paula kept jumping all over Simon after he said one or two words that she didn't agree with. (She's been doing that for a few weeks now and it's REALLY annoying!) As a result, Simon starts arguing with Paula and his comments about the contestants become a bit nastier. It looks like Ryan's been jumping in to prevent Simon from saying something overly cruel - but it's becoming obvious that Simon is getting REALLY pissed off about never being allowed to voice his opinion. On top of that, he's always been overly critical of "Broadway-style" singers and showtunes, so I can't imagine he had much fun tonight. :P

but the point is that they have "judges" there to offer an opinion and hopefully, the contestants can take what they say, learn from it and improve.

Simon can be cruel at times, but why have him there if no one is going to let him speak? :shrug:

14. I couldn't agree more. Bo looks the part...Talks the part but...

..when it comes down to tone, range, staying-on-key..the Guy can't cut it. I'm sure he a nice dude but I've seen much better singers playing and singing at the local tavern down the street...All Show and No Go.

I think him and the Russian dude and the black guy with long hair are pretty good and of course, ALL the women can "Cut it" (They're Good)

he was in RENT, so tonight was a good night for him.

But the Russian guy sucks ass.

The black guy, Anwar (not the wildlife refuge) is okay, he has a really nice voice, but is a dull performer.

and I don't like the ones I see as dull or boring. I can't stand the blond boy.

So I'm judging on what I like, partly in terms of style, not so much technical ability.

30. My favorites are..

Bo and Nadia. Vonzell has really been coming on the last few weeks. Carrie has a nice voice, so I like her - but she needs to grow as a performer. I have a crush on Carrie. Anwar is good, but his song selection has been questionable. Constantine has on and off weeks. Tonight was decent for him. Not crazy about Nikko, but I liked him tonight. Anthony is talented, but has some really off nights. Never been a Scott fan - his voice is cheesy in a bad way IMO.

Bo and Nadia first. I also like Vonzell. I recognize that Carrie is good but I don't find her interesting. Constantine and Anthony need to be bombed off the stage. They bug me, for different reasons. Anthony is boring and Constantine tries to hard to be sexy--that bugs me.

but I saw she was a page for a Democratic Oklahoma legislator. So my crush wasn't ruined.

Still I'm not sure she'll make my top 30 - I put Adrienne Frantz (Amber on Bold And The Beautiful) in after I heard she's a Democrat and paid attention to her, and I also put Anna Faris in after seeing some of Scary Movie 2.

Ok, enough about AI crushes. Who does everyone think was best tonight? Surprisingly, I say Nikko. Though Constantine was decent, Anwar was comfortable performing as always, and Bo picked the right show tune for him. Otherwise, I thought the performances were average at best.

Bo Bice, that is. Him, Constantine and the country singing girl (the blonde) will probably be the final 3.

It's not staged, per say, but I've sensed that Simon is getting fed up with having to sit next to someone who does nothing but praise people and find something nice to say. Its not like Simon NEVER says anything nice, he just does it when someone really impresses him.

In other words, he's honest.

Randy is just plain annoying. Paula is probably on drugs every week. Simon is the only decent thing about the judging. Ryan Seacrest (the host) is a tool.

Oh, and I think the fat guy who beat his wife is gonna go this week, he didn't do a great song and if the voting is fixed (which some allege) then he's probably a goner.

15. if you're going to start watching, this is not the week

those show tunes were deadly. Thankfully I record it on my DVR and then fast forward though the boring parts--which means it takes about 20 minutes to watch an hour program.

35. I only like the first two or three episodes of the season

where they go around different cities trying to find the contestants. I love seeing those people with these huge egos make fun of themselves.

I'll admit it's a bit mean and I think Simon's an ass hole, but some of those are people are so deluded it's crazy.
