Hey, stop apologizing for being nerds/geeks! |
|
In light of all the LOTR threads surfacing at the Lounge, I'd like to tell my comrades to stop being so inhibited about their love of genre films, fantastical literature, and comic books.
Folks, this is the closest thing we have to modern mythology (the Greeks would back us up on this); if you ask me, placing an emotional investment in a game(!) involving a dozen uneducated neanderthals, throwing a ball around a court/diamond/grid-iron, is a hell of a lot more pathetic. Sports are for the f#$%ing birds!
Now log off and get into one of those Revenge of the Sith lines, stat--this one might actually be good!

I love the LOTR books AND movies. I also love Star Wars and Star Trek. I am a geek. I've always been a geek. I always will be a geek.
That is all. :D

6. Yes, but modern sports is the closet thing we have to the |
|
Roman gladiator games, which is mythological in a sense.

11. Savalas was the second of three actors |
|
Donald Pleasance appeared first, in "You Only Live Twice," then came Savalas in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service," and finally Charles Gray, in that POS travesty, "Diamonds Are Forever." Maybe it was Gray.

Its been SO long since I have seen any of the Bond flicks that I forgot that Savalas was the second one and Pleasence played Blofeld first. Its also scary what you can remember, I forgot about Pleasence but I can remember that one fo the minor Bond girls was originally a guy.
