I'll be getting almost what I made in unemployment. I finally get paid to draw - until the move to NY in the summer. Ha!

1. Fired?
Ouch. That isn't good. But at least you get your 26 weeks. Enjoy!

7. Isn't it great?
Getting fired was like paid vacation for me, but unemployment only paid about half of what I made. Three job searches a week was alot too.

8. Keep this in mind about unemployment
Edited on Wed Apr-06-05 11:14 AM by RagingInMiami
Come next year, you will have to pay taxes on it. I collected last year and this year I had to pay. Not good.

EDIT: I didn't mean not good about collecting. That was good. The taxes take you by surprise.

13. You can request withholding on your unemployment
to ease the bite at tax time. (Won't completely solve the problem, but will help).

14. You can quit - but then have to show that you HAD to leave
Like harassment or volatile work environment.

23. On what planet?
That's the correct theory, but most insurance companies charge premiums, fight claims, drop anyone who files a claim, make poor stock market investments with their policyholders money and raise rates ---- then blame the trial lawyers.

Oh, that's private insurance..sorry

20. Kewel.
I don't know about CT, but here in Washington there's a limit to how long you can stay on unemployment based on your payment rate and length of employment.

Hope it's enough to carry you through or you can find a little spare cash if you need it. Remember there's always e-Bay, the great garage sale of the 21st century.
