Cautionary tale from Clark Howard re: posting about your job |
|
I listen to Clark Howard sometimes during the day when I have to drive at work. He's usually right on the money. This morning, he was cautioning his listeners to not post negative remarks about your job on the net, such as in a blog or a bulletin board such as this. Two people he mentioned lost their jobs somehow this way. I'm guessing the two people were quite explicit about the names of their companies and gave enough information about their job duties.

1. My dh simply posted the name of the company he worked for |
|
and was fired. Of course, the company never, ever mentioned that this was a 'deal-breaker' rule and there was no mention of this 'rule' in any of the corporate paperwork or guidelines, and they knew about his website when he applied for the job.

2. There was a DUer who lost his public radio job |
|
sometime last year or the year before. He posted about his job, city and radio station show. Freepers got pissed off at something that he posted, googled him, called the station and got him fired.
I love Clark Howard. :)
He's got the only decent show on WSB AM in Atlanta besides the Braves game broadcasts. The rest of the lineup is Boortz, Hannity and Savage. :puke:

3. I used to listen to Clark Howard |
|
when I was stationed at NAS Atlanta back in the early 90's. He provided a great financial service to listeners. His advice on the posting thing is a good idea too. Don't engulf all your bridges with flames. Thanks for the post.
