Every free thing has a price
I finally booked my ticket to Boston today. I'm using points, and my selection of flights was limited. I'm going to be in 2 provinces and 2 states.

1. On my round trip, I will see 4 states.
Depart from Austin
Change planes in Memphis
Arrive in Boston

Depart Boston
Change planes in Minneapolis
Arrive in Austin

I used a coupon for reduced fare, so my choices were limited as well.

2. Oh bummer. Don't you hate that?
I used my American miles to go to Austin a few years ago, and I had a 5 hour layover in Dallas. I could've DRIVEN to Austin from Dallas!

PM me the time when your flight gets in-JJ mentioned she and progmom are getting in later. I live near the hotel you're all staying in.

5. I'm actually arriving on Thursday night
If I'm going to go that far, I thought I might as well see a bit of the city. I was going to stay at a hostel or something on Thursday night.

How safe is the subway at night (around 10 pm)?

8. Subway is fine at night, but you're a bit of a walk from the subway
the hostel in Boston is in the Fenway (I think it's on Hemenway St.). that can be a colorful neighborhood at night (transvestite hookers and drug dealers).

Have you looked into an inexpensive hotel?

9. I figured an in expensive hotel would be pretty far out
As long as it's clean and safe, I'm ok. I've fallen asleep on the floor on more than one occasion. I don't mind roughing it.
