4. Yeah, Peepers is a great cat.

She was abused by her previous owners (I stole her and refused to give her back), so she really only lets me come anywhere near her. She really has been a great old friend.

One day, you must come to one of the Chicago DU get-togethers. They are great.

14. I'm not going too far!

We're looking for a bungalow in Albany Park or Portage Park. Yes, I know, I have to go to a DU get-together! Every freakin' time one of those comes along, something prevents me from going. Remember the one in September? I had been totally unemployed since February, and when do I find a job? Two days before the Moody's Pug gathering. And the last one was the weekend before the semester grades were due. I promise, though, that I'm going to be at the ones over the summer--unless I'm sucked into a wormhole or something, which may very well happen, knowing me.

It's an ongoing joke on my street among the people who have lived here a while that we no longer could afford to buy our houses. Although the price appreciation (which probably will reach a breaking point) is great, the rise in real estate taxes is difficult. There is a house a block from me that went on the market in the fall at over $1 million. It hasn't sold and I haven't checked to see if they have come down in price, but that news was a stunner. Big brick house on a corner lot, wraparound porch.

You do know that the city makes money available to people who want to rehab vintage bungalows? I have heard it's a great deal...someone at work recommended it to me. But...this house is not a bungalow.

Good luck on your search. Nice for IconBaby to have a back yard to play and dig dirt in.

Did you know that just across Western they're going for only 270K? Chicago real estate must be artificially inflated in these areas.
