My very best friend is having weight issues, how can I help her? |
|
Her professor made her class rank themselves by height and weight (why? search me!) It turned out that only two guys were heavier than her. Just recently she had to buy her first plus size dress. Needless to say, she is taking it very badly.
I don't know how to help her feel better. To me she looks as beautiful and sexy as always, but she doesn't see it. Help!

1. What kind of class was this? |
|
That sounds like a terrible thing for the professor to do. By height, maybe, but not weight. Is this college? What was the point of the lesson?

by telling her that she looks fine. If she shows signs of wanting to do something about her weight, do what you can to help her with what she wants to do. Example, if she wants to exercise more, offer to go on walks with her. If she wants to diet, don't sabotage her diet efforts by offering the wrong foods. BYW, the prof is an idiot.

Tell her that repeatedly.
Laugh at her jokes, be impressed with her insight, etc. She just needs to be comfortable with herself.
I'm weighing more than I ever wanted to these days, but while I'm not ecstatic about it, I don't really worry about it either. Carrying oneself with confidence and good posture is always far more attractive than not, no matter what size one is...

5. I echo the earlier posts: Tell her as often as possible, |
|
that she looks good and you think she's beautiful, sexy, etc., and not just when she's moaning about her weight or her appearance. Any time you can boost her ego about her Self, her appearance, and her positive non-physical attributes, do so.
If she wants to be more active, be more active with her. Don't offer help unless she asks for it, though; that can come off as preaching or being down on her.
I'd love to hear she's made some complaint either To her professor or About her professor; 'cause this sounds like a totally inappropriate activity for any class, anywhere, anytime.
