Edited on Fri Apr-08-05 09:43 PM by JohnKleeb
before giving up, actually this way of play tonight gives me some hope. Of course then summer will come and you know the rest. Oh hell yes, a 12-5 win.

1. Give it as long as you want, including a life-long loyalty -- |
|
-- and don't take any crap from anybody about it.
You have a right to love something that's such a significant part of the country's social history.
Stick to your guns and good for you.

2. Its the bloody AL East |
|
I'm gonna be pissed if things turn out the way they always do in october.

9. Well, that's not your fault. You like your sports and -- |
|
-- you seem to have a really good affinity for baseball.
The Orioles are a team of great traditions and if they have off seasons, even lousy seasons, then they're just as human as other teams.
Besides. ANY American League team is better than the Yankees, rain or shine.
Hang in there no matter what.

16. But am I wrong here -- your heart is still good for them. |
|
Walt Whitman said in order for their to be great poets, there must first be great audiences.
So in order for there to be great baseball teams, there must first be great fans.
It sounds to me like you're holding up your end of the bargain.
(I'm a Frank Robinson Orioles fan from a hell of a long way back, John. And I'm no pal of the Steinbrenner-financed Yanks either.)

18. It is just so hard to keep faith |
|
When you got the AL East being the same ole, same ole every year, Yankees finish first, the Sox with the wild card, us or Toronto in third, and the D-Rays in the cellar.

23. I hear ya on how hard it can be. But think of it like -- |
|
-- politics.
We're Democrats who believe in the democratic form of government, even when idiots and assholes occupy the White House (which is definitely the case now.)
It ain't gonna stop me from voting.
Baseball needs good, good fans out there, John. You happen to be one. That's good for everybody.

But you also know that some team will beat the Yankees too. They aren't going to win another series for a while, I feel, and remember, I may have lost some of my abilities during the football season but I have had extrodinary luck since october in sports. Football team made it to the AFC Championship, Had near perfect NCAA predictions, etc.

8. I'm going on a limb and saying the Yanks |
|
win the Series. They'll trade Rivera and get a (better) closer. That's all they need. Who, I don't know yet but that's the type of shady shit the Yanks do.

Rivera is definely not what he once was. Christ I cant even remember the last time he converted a save in a regular season or playoff game.

13. He'll be decent this year |
|
Or else they'll just have to score 10 a game and hope their starters can go deep.

22. My basic point is that Rivera is not in his prime |
|
Like blowing two saves in a row is not something guys do when they are at their best, he'll still save 30-40 a game this year but I dont expect an amazing ERA or anything like that.
