Edited on Fri Apr-08-05 10:36 PM by stanwyck
with Bill Mahr and he's a flaming liberal! He knows what he's talking about, has the facts, and is bashing Bush constantly.
So. He's a good actor (love Deadwood) and he's one of us.
Liberal men. Too yummy.

2. Proof that scary looking men are sexy to women
He is very up to snuff, politically.

PS: I'm not scary looking.

B-)

16. There's scary looking as in mean and dumb

and scary looking as in intense and intelligent:

Too many men don't know the difference and err in the direction of the former. :-)

3. I am totally impressed, too.
I imagine meeting him and saying, "I really liked your POV on Bill Maher's show. Oh yeah, you're really good on Deadwood, too."

BTW, Arianna Huffington is kicking her share of ass tonight, too.

7. Arianna was fiery and relentless
she kept battling Bill....who was doing his "maybe Bush IS right about Iraq and a democracy will be established and peace will overtake the world and we'll all live in harmony...." She didn't back down. She's a real cheerleader.

14. It's great to see Arianna on our side...
I remember when I first started seeing her on Politically Incorrect several years ago she was 'way more to the right, and I didn't care for her at all. Now I think she's fabulous.

9. He knew more than Maher
McShane was dazzling, and really understated.

One of the best displays of cool I've ever seen.

That Watkins guy needs to be punched into never opening his mouth again. What a moran.

I'm glad Huffington's on our side - for now - she's really such a whore.

Richard Perle had to be nuts to appear on that show.

And Mario Cuomo is God.

He must think us idiots for thinking that we'd swallow it.

The man is reprehensible.

12. If only. If only
Cuomo was our president. We have a great country. We deserve a great man as president. Instead we have an entitled son who has been boosted up by his influential family his entire life. Bush has no brains or character to recommend him. Only his name. Cuomo is the anti-Bush. A man who made it on his own.
Which brings up a curious matter. Why do the wingnuts worship the posers like Bush? The freepers loathed Clinton. A man who came from a lower middle class background and made it to president through sheer brains and ambition. You would think that kind of "up by your own bootstraps" would impress the uber "take nothing from nobody" mentality of freepers. Yet they idolize puffed up princelings like Bush.
Doesn't compute.
Or is it really the self-loathing of people who disdain any "club" that would have them as a member. Thus the hero worship of those they consider their "betters".
Sad.

17. Make me cry
He'd never have been able to endure the bullshit that goes into a Presidential campaign today - remember the Swift Boat Thugs? Imagine what they'd have pulled with someone whose surname ends in a vowel (as does mine). Mario's tough, but that's not all-the-way-I-truly-don't-give-a-shit tough like that weasel who is currently squatting in the White House; he's tender. Far too tender for the personal assaults that would have been launched at him, and perpetuated by this lameass media of ours.

You've got me with your question, stanwyck. Why did some veterans' groups embrace the little draft-dodger? Why do the underprivileged rush to kiss the weasel's boots?

I think it has a lot to do with what I call the "Who the hell do you think you are?" syndrome. That is, I think people who couldn't personally identify with John Kerry, let's say, because of his accomplishments, his intellect, his complex and nuanced way of conceptualizing, rushed to kiss weasel ass because the joker talks like they do.

Of course, they like to wave his Harvard and Yale degrees, but they conveniently overlook them while kowtowing to the pretender. It makes them feel less insubstantial, less isolated, less of the losers they deep down believe themselves to be.

Gone forever, I fear, are the days when we wanted our leaders to be better than we are, more accomplished, smarter. Now, people buy the sizzle, not the steak, and that's all they can handle, because they're toothless.

13. I saw it and was telling another DUer:
"I bet Ian McShane is a DUer. He at least sounded like one." That Watkins creep needs to come down to earth. What a tool! I swear the temperature dropped when Perle came on.

Shopping for a venue to sue Sy Hersch. I kept waiting for someone to point out that Perle was wrong when he said the guilty were being punished for Abu Ghraib. One of them is now AG.....but no one said it. Still waiting.....no one's sayin' it.

As usual, it would have been the job of journalists to pick up that story and blow them all out of their comfortable little sinecures, a la Woodstein, but, no, the MSM sucks as badly as the thugs in the White House.

Sy Hersh is a real hero.

20. Not to women
It always amuses me when men sit around wondering why a man who isn't much in the looks department (from their point of view) has to beat the ladies off with a stick.

That's usually because they themselves wouldn't dream of flocking around a woman who was no great beauty, so the appeal of the ordinary looking man escapes them.

Okay, here's the straight dope on Ian McShane: he's intelligent and witty, has great eyes, a cool accent, and knows how to be masculine without being mean and dumb. (He's not REALLY Swearengen, you know.)

28. What? Ugly? Then you probably think
Willem Dafoe and Christopher Walken are ugly. And I think they're hot.
And, yes, I've been told I have very strange taste in men.
My husband says his biggest fear isn't that I'll leave him. It's that I'll leave him for such an ugly man that he won't be able to stand the embarrassment.

27. I was also extremely impressed!
I saw him, years ago, on Masterpiece Theatre, as Benjamin Disraeli, and he was just excellent, and also handsome. He had a show since, which I did now follow, but he was just amazing on Real Time! He was so incredibly informed, and brought up Bill Maher short, with the depth of his knowledge!
:wow:

And what's up with Bill Maher, anyway, and his recent pandering to conservatives? When Richard Perle came on, I was afraid the lights were going to go out! But Bill Maher barely challenged his question-dodging. Most of us on DU would have more easily gotten him on the facts. That was the worst part of the show, and I have been disappointed, lately.:-(

As for Adriana Huffington! Kudos! I have always liked her, since she is extremely well-informed and unwilling to take any crap, even from her "friend," Bill Maher. She explained the mistake of the Iraq war as succinctly and clearly as I've ever heard anyone do it! She was my favorite part of the show, hands down!

29. I haven't always like Arianna
I remember she used to be a Republican windbag when she was married to Michael Huffington. Damn but she was nice back then, too, but I wasn't buying it. I am so glad she has reformed and like someone who has converted to a new faith she has become a zealot -- I mean that in a good way. :-)
