Just when you thought everything was ok....
Well, last night, while everyone was at work and I was over at the new house, guess what happened?
Yeah, I'm sure that a few of you can guess.
Our old house was broken into by someone kicking one of the basement windows open. It looks like Mom scared them off when she showed up at the old house to pack some more.
Luckily, they seem to have "only" gotten our dvd player, but we won't know for sure until we've settled in and see what's here and what's not here.
We're lucky that we didn't lose our cats and dog, but I guess they were too scared of the robber to leave through the open doors. Instead they were hiding under the couch.

It's airy and bright and about double the amount of space for only a few bucks more a month.
And now that I'm on the second floor maybe the nightmares about my apartment flooding will now end.

DVD players are cheap now, but it sucks to be victimized all the same...

6. My biggest worry is that the neighborhood people who |
|
are helping us move are behind it, so I'm going to be sleeping next to a very, very big stick tonight--if I sleep at all.
At least my roomie will be here with the pets.

4. I am so sorry your moving is marred by such horrible things |
|
I recall our move to a new house. We fell in love with the architecture and we slept here the first night in a knapsack and with our dog with candles and felt so happy to have a new home.
I wish all moves were so happy. I am sorry you had so many bad things happen!!! But time will make your new home that much happier!!!:bounce:

7. Thank for the kind words everyone! |

I really appreciate everyone at DU letting me rant. It's keeping me out of mom's range right now. All I seem to be doing is saying the wrong thing and setting her off.
Sigh.... I think I'm going to go see Kill Bill later, once I know my roomie is watching the place. I need some fictional violence to calm me down.

It just keeps on coming tonight.
One of our movers never showed up and their father--who is pissed at his kid--had to help us move today.
Sigh...can this just be over? I think I'm going to take a nap and wake up in a week or two. By then they are sure to have finally gotten us moved in and everything done with the house.
But it IS a lovely house though. The old one was so small that we could never get it clean (we moved in with someone, and we really had no choice at the time.)
This house I'd be happy to show off to any DUer.
Oh, and this place doesn't smell like backed-up sewer water either. That HAS to be healthier for me.

13. So sorry this happened, Keph. Moving is among the lower points... |
|
of everyone's life. The end results are good, as you say, but getting there? Ugh. In your case, some stuff got stolen; you mash your fingers and toes (if you're lucky); one or two favorite objects always get broken, etc.
I know, I'm packing up now for a move a week from this Monday.
Glad you're okay, though, and that the new place is looking up. You're right, a dose of Tarentino overkill will be the right Rx for the evening!
Take care -- :hi:
