Can someone help me with this Concrete Blonde question? Fans?
I downloaded "Joey" by Concrete Blonde for my wife. Now she's saying it doesn't sound right. So, is there a cover version I don't know about?

2. The studio version was released on their third album "Bloodletting",
which is an incredible listen. Gritty, hard-edged rock with a tender center (the cuts 'Joey' and 'Caroline' for instance).

A marvelous cover version of 'Joey' was released on their collection "Still In Hollywood" which combined greatest hits with obscure B-sides and rare live versions. The rendition of the song, in Johnette Napolitano's smokey velvet growl, often brings tears to my eyes. It's a song about love and forgiveness. The lyrics "Joey, I'm not angry anymore" slay me. On the live version, she modulates her voice on "anymore", most likely because she's out of breath, but it serves to make the impression yearning and achingly romantic.

So, which version do you have? The studio, or the live version?

4. I've seen them twice in concert, both times at Seattle's Showbox.
The first time, she wore jeans and a tank top, and was drunk off her ass. The second time, she was sober, gorgeous and wearing a little black dress and sexy black pumps! YOW! That lady can ROCK! :-)

6. I know L.A. is their home base, but Seattle seems to be just their
kind of town: Intellectual, activist, young, energetic, and liking its rock-and-roll hard and loud.

8. That's the one I bought from iTunes
I guess she was looking for a different version. Someone mentioned a more "acoustic" version. Perhaps that's what she was looking for.
