The Amazing Psychic Powers of Kiko The Wonder Cat! |
|
Thursday night I got out his kennel so that he could get used to the sight of it before this morning's vet appointment. He even shocked me by going inside it several times and just chillin'. :smoke:
This morning I shower, get dressed, and turn on the damn Teevee. Instead of following me around as he usually does, Kiko is on my bed, looking a bit apprehensive. I throw one of his favorite toys out into the dining room. He chases it, then runs back into the bedroom, and gets under the bed.
I had made NO MOVES to get him inside the cage. Yet... yet... he was cowering on the bed, and then under it, as if all I had done all morning is chase him with the cage.
He acted very strange, and very fearful, like he KNEW he had to go in and get his booster shots.
So after luring him out with a toy again (tricky Daddy!), I closed the bedroom and bathroom doors, and his worst suspicions were confirmed. I managed to grab him from under the dining table and get him inside his portable jail cell.
But damn, how the hell did he know...? My morning routine was just like any other. How the hell could he have known, after 2 days of the kennel being out, and me making NO MOVES until the last minute, that THIS was the morning it was to be done?
I am sure this is not unique to cats, or dogs, but fascinating just the same. I ascribe it (my comical subject title to the contrary) to their overt sensitivity to body language and tone that I am not even consciously aware of acting out.
He has always been one helluva smart cat though. Cute devil!

2. Used to have a dog who could hear me thinking about giving her a bath. |
|
I would have to get things together for her dip while actively thinking of other things or she would evaporate into thin air. She was part poodle, part collie and part Cheshire Cat.
Seems they are so intuitive and empathetic that they just about read our minds, doesn't it? My Golden gets all sad and mopey, just before I finally give in to a good cry.

3. It is SO much easier with dogs. |
|
My cats also know and they are hell to catch and stuff into those things and they cry and scream for the 30 minute trip to the vet, drives me insane. The dogs on the other hand are waiting at the door for their car ride. "Can we go? Huh? Huh? Pullllleeeeeeease can we go in the car? Swimming? Walking?" The dirty looks start when you pull into your parking spot but then they never realize it until you are there. I love my doggies, they are much easier than cats.

4. My sister's vet told her to keep the kennel out and open at all times |
|
and to keep toys in it. Now Aphrodite thinks it's part of the furniture, so she never panics when it's time to go to the vet.
Also, I saw a show on Court TV about a murder investigation where they needed to get some DNA from the victim's cat. The cop said it took about half a hour to take it into custody, LOL!
