A conversation with my grandmother
The other day, I called my grandma, just to check in and make sure all was well, since I hadn't talked to her in a while. She started complaining about what * wants to do to Social Security, and how bad it was. She went on a rant about how they only get a 2% raise each year, but the cost of Medicare keeps going up. She was complaining about the state of the economy, and the price of gas. She complained about the public schools, how bad they've gotten, and how the kids are learning nothing but the TAKS test, and many of them still don't pass the test.

At one point, I stopped her. "You voted for Bush, did you not?" She confirmed that she did, which I already knew. She said that he lied, that NOW he doesn't care about the people who put him in for the second term. I had to ask..."WHY did you vote for him?"...Her response knocked me over. She said "Because of the situation in Iraq"...she went on to say "John Kerry wouldn't have known what to do over there." I reminded her that John Kerry is a Vietnam Veteran, while * never saw combat. She stands by what she thinks about that.

I told her that * is nothing but a con man, and that is in one of his target groups, the older folks of this country. I told her that she bought what he was selling, and now she's sorry.

Add two more people to list with buyer's remorse...my grandma and my grandpa.

1. And * isn't even asking her generation to pony up for the change in SocSec
"The Great Generation" can't be asked to make any sacrifices, because it'll cost Republicans votes.

Pathetic.

2. She has turned the corner on him
She really thinks he's doing a better job in Iraq than Kerry, but from every other aspect, she hates the shrub.

3. I do not understand that logic at all..but inany case, they regret their
vote.

4. The following statement you made really puzzles me.....

..."WHY did you vote for him?"...Her response knocked me over. She said "Because of the situation in Iraq".....I've heard others say something similar....That they think that Bush can handle the war in Iraq better than Kerry....There would be no war in Iraq if it weren't for BUSH'S LIES about the need to attack Iraq!!!

5. Well, she's 76 years old
She drank the kool-aid on the war. I'm sure the Swift Boaters had something to do with that. She doesn't fall for the other lies anymore though.

7. I was really referring to all the others I have heard quoted on TV and

in other media who use that as their reason....It seems to be a very common reason for voting for Bush...."He'll be able to get us out of the war in Iraq better" or "fight terrorism better" (they still believe Saddam caused 9/11)....They seem to be unaware of the fact that Bush and his buddies are the reason you are mired in the war in Iraq, besides the fact you mentioned about Kerry having actually fought in a war....
P.S. God bless your grandmother for seeing the light!

6. With all due respect to
your grandmother, you need to make sure she reads about how there NEVER were any weapons of mass destruction, how Bush lied from the beginning. ANYONE who said they voted for Bush in 04 because of Iraq clearly wasn't paying any attention. Tell her she's getting what she voted for.

Basically, in my opinion, all those who voted for Bush have absolutely no right whatsoever to complain about what's now happening. Yes, I understand she's 76 years old and does deserve appropriate respect from you, but she's an adult and chose freely to vote for him. Do not cut her extra slack because she's your grandmother or because of her age.

8. I don't give her extra slack
I'm thrilled that she's FINALLY seeing through at least some of the lies. The conversation was quite lengthy, I just posted a small part of it.

9. Not to be too much of a bitch,
but would she still vote for him? Most of the Bush voters I know who are complaining about things would *still* vote for the asshole. Really hard to feel any sympathy, if that's the case.
