At least he didn't marry a trophy wife.

9. Let's face it, they're not the most attractive couple on the
face of this earth even in their youth. Of course with all that money and privilege, they should care. I'll bet Camilla doesn't do any of all the plastic surgery things most women her age, who can afford it, do.

Let their dowdy selves go off into oblivion. Yawn.

21. It's a Philip Treacy hat, goodboy --
Edited on Sat Apr-09-05 01:16 PM by DeepModem Mom
I just looked it up on Google news. Treacy is a British icon of fashion, a great designer of what DemItAll calls "eccentric" hats, an artist. I saw an exhibition of his hats at a design museum in London not long ago.

Not that I would wear such a hat, but the English, as well as their hats, can be "eccentric."

On edit: Treacy's hats, needless to say, are tres expensive!

I so wanted to say something catty, but even though they are rich and privileged, I guess that does not necessarily guarantee happiness. I suppose even the best among us make mistakes in matters of love, and I feel lucky cuz mine were not plastered all over the tabloids.

Hey, maybe she wore the hat so he wasn't the funniest looking item in the wedding pictures!

36. I was looking at a photo gallery on
CNN with various pictures of the wedding, and there was one of Princess Anne's daughter, a very pretty young woman, who apparently never was taken to an orthodontist. Her teeth look like my 11-year-old's - who is due to start treatment soon. It's a financial stretch for me, but you'd think Anne could have afforded it. Why any royal has crooked teeth is beyond me.

40. So I see from this parade, that actually
the Philip Treacy creation that Camilla wore ("Partially Electrocuted Bride 2005)" was just a little something for the more conservative customer. Says a lot about Camilla that she would support British fashion designers to this extent. (Don't get me wrong, I love body and fashion art, and costumery).

She looks OK- the hat is abit different, but the suit is nice. I hope they're happy. Hopefullly they'll learn from this and let the younger royals marry women they love rather than have to go hunt for a suitably virginal, suitably royal bride.

55. I thought that both dresses were flattering, especially the one
for the church service. The color was excellent for her, and the princess cut coat made the most of her figure. The hats were a bit much for me, though, but considering what many members of the royal family wear, they did not really stick out.

37. She looks perfectly English. Perfectly Royal.
Bad hat, dowdy dress, modest bouquet.

She fits in far better than Diana ever did, which is likely why most love Diana so much. I know I certainly prefer the Princess of Wales.

I give Camilla two years before she's hooked on gin-and-tonnies. If she's not already.

38. Camilla was one of the better dressed people
in attendance. All sorts of members of the English upper crust, and most of them clueless about how to choose a flattering outfit. The most egregious fashion disaster was a young woman who was walking next to William and Harry. She was wearing a geometric-print that looked like it had last been worn on Carnaby St. in the 60s - along with knee-hi boots. Atrocious.

39. Okay, did anyone else watch the coverage of the wedding?
I have NEVER heard such scathing commentary during a televised event in my life. According to Penny Junor on CNN, Diana, of course, was the Antichrist. Poooooooor Charles was trying sooo hard to make that marriage work while carrying on with Camilla. Of course, Camilla and Mr. Parker Bowles had an "open marriage," so this was deemed fine.

The commentator on MSNBC openly said that "maybe it would be a blessing" if Queen Elizabeth outlived Charles so he never reached the throne...There were also several comments to the effect that it is "done," and people should just accept it and move on.

There was finally some mumblings on both channels about how this was "difficult" for Prince Harry. As another poster said above, it's too bad they had to hurt so many people in the process.

I liked Camilla's outfit for the civil ceremony, and the church outfit was actually flattering as well. I think the feathers are meant as a nod to the Prince of Wales' insignia.
