Woman hits her car with hammer - gets run over
...
Alison Taylor's Peugeot 405 wouldn't start so she got out and banged the engine with a hammer.

But the blows triggered the broken starter motor and because the keys were still in the ignition, the engine started. The handbrake should have stopped the car lurching forward - but that was broken as well, an inquest heard. Even then the momentum of the car would not have been enough to cause a problem.

But Alison, 36, tried to steady herself and accidentally grabbed the throttle cable.

As her elderly mother watched in horror the car sped over her, killing her instantly.

9. tragic. i feel for her. i drove POS cars for years
after all the hassles she probably had with this piece of shit car, what does she get for her trouble? the damn thing kills her and doesn't even have the courtesy to destroy itself in the process.

i have driven cars where you had to hit the starter, or stick a screwdriver in it. i had a car where the automatic shifter cable and parking brake cable broke within days of each other. i had to put it against something so it wouldn't roll, and i had to have someone shift it into drive under the hood while i held the brake pedal. i got a brick and would open the door and put the brick on the ground then roll back onto it. i got pulled over by a cop on a hill, the first thing he said was to get out of the car. i had to tell him i could only do that if he put the brick under the tire. needless to say he was less than cooperative and i ended up getting a stack of tickets (deservedly so).

so i feel for this woman. i was lucky enough to move on with my life and improve my transportation, i guess she wasn't.
