I'm going to bed. I've found 11 items. I've used the keys to open the drawers, I've found the box and put the rings on top, I've read the URL though I haven't gone to it yet. I've put the power cord onto the damned CD player, which doesn't do jack, I've got a battery that's useless, a CD case that's equally useless, three damned keys, and that's it. I've searched that damned room as much as I possibly can, tried different combinations of objects and put almost everything into that plate. So what am I missing, and what has that damned plate got to do with it?

Some of the odd English is explicable as resulting from choosing the wrong word in the Japanese-English dictionary.

For example, "It's a stale CD player" is probably a mistranslation of the word "arifureta," which can mean "stale" in the sense of overly used, as in "stale joke," but another possible translation is "plain, ordinary."

"Nothing strange here" is probably a mistranslation of "kawatta mono arimasen," which is more like "Nothing out of the ordinary here/Nothing that you wouldn't expect here."
