I just watched the most amazing Almodovar flick
Edited on Fri Apr-15-05 12:00 AM by sundog
La Mala educacion

Wow :o

Maybe not quite as great as Hable con ella... but this was unlike anything else he has done.

It was Almodovar nior... a very dark, disturbing piece & altogether amazing.

Hitchcock, drags queens & church abuse in a massive mash-up. It may be his most ambitious piece.

I guess some will hate it, but it blew my mind. Damn good.

Has anyone else here seen it yet?

2. I saw it at the Burns Court Cinema in Sarasota, FL
and loved it. You have described it perfectly.

Strong cast, eerie and beautiful all at once.

Just terrific.

3. I REALLY want to see it
Been waiting for it to come out on video. Glad to see your mini-review. I have to wait until my finals are over (May 6, hooray) but I have big plans for all the books and movies I want to devour when I finally have time. This is at the top of the list! We have a single-screen arthouse theater where I live (Salem, Oregon) so you have to act quickly to see something. This film showed for about a week, and I just couldn't catch it. So yay, it's out on DVD!

Peace,

RV

10. did you see Live Flesh?
That was pretty good too. I saw a really old one called Bad Habits (Entre tinieblas)... that one was a trip... about nuns in a convent on lsd.

No, this one tops them all. I just decided :P

It's not emotionally wrenching like Talk to Her, or the general soap vibe of All About... that's why I think he's so great... just when you think you have him figured out, he goes in a completely different direction while still retaining a certain signature style.

12. As if I needed another reason to see an Almodovar film
Hmmm, he's nice all right.

I LOVE ALMODOVAR! He could get a movie out of my life, and at least two out of my sister....

Also loved The Flower of my Secret. (Remember the hot male flamenco dancer in that one? My post will be deleted if i speak about him in a frank manner....)

And the dark "What Have I Done to Deserve This".

My goal this year -- see everything he's done.

19. I'll add this to my Netflix queue....
I deeply regret not buying the DVD of "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown"--it's now out of print & quite expensive.

Since seeing that file, gazpacho has never been the same....
