Dropkick Murphy's
Anyone into these guys? They are a punk band from Boston who add traditional Irish music elements into their songs (bag pipes, fife, etc.). A lot of their lyrics have a pretty populist bent. They have a version of Worker's Song that simply smokes.

They're not reinventing the musical wheel by any means, but their music gets the blood pumping. I'm sure folks into punk more than know about them since they've been around for almost 10 years or so now and are popular. But if you're not even into this type of music and want to track down their version of Worker's song, by all means you won't be dissapointed.

15. I have that game
it doesn't make sense when they play it at Network Associates Coliseum or Camden Yards though.

11. Other than the Irish thing, I don't see the Pogues connection....
The DM's are much more punk oriented with Irish flourishes. The Pogues were traditional Irish music with a slight punk attitude.

I'd say Flogging Molly are much more the poor man's Pogues.

8. Fine young lads! As subtle as Irish Confetti....
Very much in the tradition of the Pogues.

12. I've seen them perform, like, 30 times.
They always seem to be on every big box tour that goes around. I think they've been at every Warped Tour I've been to, as well as several of the local radio station festivals.

They ALWAYS put on a great show. Lots of energy, and they actually sound good, rather than the "bunch of noise" some of these bands put out live.

13. I love them
Another good band mixing punk and traditional Irish (even moreso than the Muprys) is Flogging Molly. Their Drunken Lullabies album is great.

14. They're good too, but more traditional Irish stuff....
..the only real punk aspect to them is the vocals. I'd say their the flip side of the Murphy's. They are Irish music with a slight punk bent, whereas the DM's are the opposite equation.
