I've said it before and I'll say it again |
|
I really hate cottage cheese.
In my effort to get in 60+ grams of protein every day, I often resort to eating the stuff, but I load it with salt and pepper, and have some fresh fruit on the side.
People really do enjoy this stuff, eh?

1. are you familiar with naked juice? |
|
they've got a protein juice that's pretty good that has 34 grams in one bottle...then there's always the GNC route, and picking up some whey protein, blending it up with some orange juice, vanilla yogurt, and frozen strawberries...yum its good

2. yes, but it's LOADED w/ sugar |
|
And I find that a lot of the whey protein drinks (even those w/ no sugar) are too sweet for my taste.
It's a battle.

3. Atkins makes protein shakes |
|
with less than 3g. of carbs per glass. I'm not sure of the protein content, and it tastes gross, but maybe better than cottage cheese.

5. These shakes are not bad |
|
but I find I have to dilute them w/ some milk (but that just adds more protein).
I use them only occasionally, because they can get expensive.

they have a great vanilla soy chai drink with 17 grams of protein and tons of juices that are not from concentrate and do not have any added sugar whatsoever (also, they tend to not be very sweet either) delicious!

11. I love Cottage Cheese but not all varities are the same |
|

I will only eat Shop Rite or Giant's own brand. Other great ways to add protien that I use:
I now drink 8 Continent Soy Milk instead of regular milk. I drink the lite chocolate variety and I can drink that stuff like it's a snack. (Low carbs in that too).
I also found a protien/fiber powder that I add to my juices.

13. I don't mind cottage cheese... |
|
But there are lots of other high-protein things, more expensive, though. Balance bars are my current favorite for keeping my blood sugar stable overnight (I'm diabetic). I buy them in bulk online at www.drugstore.com and they are about 40% off of the normal shelf price.
Do you like eggs? Lots of protein there, too...

but don't like to take the time to make them in the a.m.
If I were better organized, I would hard-boil some and keep them in the fridge.
I haven't tried the Balance bars. I have tried a lot of protein bars only to find that they're not very tasty. If you say Balance is different, I'd try them.

15. I like the Balance plain peanut butter |
|
Some of theirs with chocolate are pretty mediocre. But the PB ones are good enough that I can eat one every night and it's fine. My husband really likes the chocolate mint ones, so I guess it does depend some on taste, too. They also have a good chunk of vitamins in them, which is good.
