I found an interesting website but don't know the language
The following link is about Neil Finn (and is in English):

http://www.yle.fi/akuutti/arkisto2001/060301_c.html

But the rest of the site is in a language I can't identify. Someone suggested it might be Finnish. Does anyone know what it is? Can anyone translate? Based on what Neil wrote it sounds like it might be pretty progressive and therefore of interested to us folks on DU.

For those of you who don't know Neil Finn, he's a singer/songwriter formerly of Crowded House and Split Enz who is so amazingly talented it makes me dizzy. He's my favorite musician in the world. The more I hear him say about the world at shows and in interviews, the more I appreciate him as a human too. His lyrics aren't terribly political but nevertheless I've always suspected he is a liberal. At a recent show I got confirmation on that because he called Shrub a fascist (YAY! It's always nice to find out someone you love so much is also a liberal!). He also said some pretty amazing things on the link above (which was written before 9/11).

2. that would definitely be Finnish
there are no good auto web translators for Finnish - it's a language group of its own.

3. Finnish is a non Indo-European language,
and is related to quite a few other non-European languages. The speculation was that Japanese and Korean was also in that group.

9. It seems like with 68,000 members
there should be someone who knows Finnish.

6. I don't know if you heard but he lost a good friend recently.
Paul Hester drummer in Crowded House committed suicide recently.
I thought that it was really sad, especially since he looked like he was always the one enjoying himself the most.

7. Yes, I know. It's terrible news.
It was soooooo sad. The various Finn-related message boards have been devastated with the news. Paul was Neil's best friend. Neil has actually been under doctor's orders to stay home and rest for 4 weeks because the grief really got to him.

Paul will be sorely missed. Had two little girls too, what a shame.

Someone might have discussed it in an old post. Definitely sounds like a musician I'll check out.

16. I love that picture of Buster!
LOL!

Anyway, apparently Finnish is one language that doesn't have a good web translator because it's so complicated. This is according to someone else who responded, so I could google it anyway and see.
