Why must hippies bathe in patchuli and/or rose oil? |
|
I'd like hippies more if they didn't stink so bad, or try to "greek bath" the funk away by bathing in patchuli and/or rose oil.
It's like polo cologne in the 80's, you can't get that funk smell out of your sinuses.

Pot smells like pot. It's meant to cover up the pot funk.

The girl I used to work with on the morning shift would put that stuff ALL over her. (Wish I were kidding). It's pretty bad when you're putting it on your feet even!

Which is why i'm complaining. I'm telling you, one of my co-workers shimmers like a mirage from the stuff. It's worse than smelling all that white shoulders and final net as a kid in church on Sunday.
Phew.

She's a drama queen to boot. I don't want to be the "male chauvinist who doesn't like the way I smell" of the company.
But..
Is there a nice way to broach the subject?

My situation was different because my cousin was actually my co-worker (and needless to say, she pretty much didn't give a crap that it bothered me). I'd just talk to her (in a nice way) and say "You know, I don't want to offend you or anything, but I have pretty bad allergies and your perfume seems to bring them out at full force." I would be blunt about it, but in a nice way. If she takes it wrong, you could always go to your supervisor about it. If you don't feel comfortable talking to your supervisor, you might be stuck with it?

In all other respects, she's a great person to work with. We really don't have that much interaction at all except for the common areas of the office (halls, etc.) but...
She literally leaves vapor trails down the halls that do not go away. Maybe I can push the landlord for a better ventilation system or something.
I just hate being "the dick" by bringing it up.

I love the smell of patchouli. It smells even better when paired with sandlewood. I think it gets a bad rap because most people only smell it mixed with nasty hippie funk.
The only real problem with modern hippies, imo, is their horrendous taste in music. No wonder they smoke so much dope. No sober person could listen to a bunch of Dead-wannabes noodling at one "song" for 2 hours.

Actually, just like cologne and perfume, the cheap stuff smells awful, and some people have body chemistry that just doesn't react well with certain scents.

about WAY to much cologne in public ( like the no smoking thing) because there are those of us who are allergic and can't breath around the shit some people wear.Seriously I've asked to be moved in restaurants before because of this.
