Is my dog dreaming or snoring?
When she sleeps she somtimes starts to twitch and make a faint growl or whimper noise - it lasts anywhere from a few seconds up to a minute or so. What is that?

1. I always thought it was dreaming
but I'm not sure. My cats do the same thing.

3. I believe she's dreaming!
I have 3 dogs, and all of them do this occasionally. I love to watch those antics. They always seem happy, and sometimes you can see they think they're chasing something, and even a muffled bark.

My dogs also snore. There is a big difference. When they're snoring, they are usually laying on their back (same as when people snore) and there's no physical movement associated with it.

They're just too funny, and I love them dearly.

5. Mine never sleeps on her back
even in the summer when it's hot and the ceiling fan would provide some relief. I think she's dreaming. She seems to have more incidents immediately after she's cleaned out a rabbit's nest and left fur & other bunny remnants about the yard.

6. Sounds like dreaming.
My dog makes a little laughing sound sometimes and other times she growls in her sleep. It is extremely cute. She also snores, sometimes loud enough to wake herself up, at which time she gives me an indignant look as if I was the one to wake her.

7. i always think they're dreaming
when their hands (paws) start moving i imagine my dog is running, maybe chasing squirrels, or running after a toy.

8. My cat talks in his sleep
I've reported the symptom to the vet who suggests that the cat isn't active enough and is dreaming because he's sleeping very deeply. So when he starts to talk in his sleep, I know he needs more activity and chasing him around the house every evening or morning usually puts an end to it.
