I really like her; I respect her intellect tremendously. She's a lefty, and that makes it a lot easier to work for her. (I've worked for a former Bush Jr. senior-level advisor and for a man who worked for Tom Davis for ten years. Although the former guy became a friend, neither was an easy working relationship.) She genuinely appreciates all I do, and tells me so several times a day. She gives me great (though well-deserved) reviews and earlier this month she got me a cash bonus. The work is very interesting, too.
The problem is that she procrastinates like a mofo. EVERYTHING is saved until the very last minute and we constantly operate in ultra-crisis mode. The stuff she dumped on me last night? She could have told me about all of it at noon, although she probably knew on Monday that this stuff had to go out by week's end. And to top it off, one of the things she asked me to do was for a conference she's speaking at today; stuff like that is zero priority. :grr:
I am a nervous, neurotic woman by nature, by genes. Anxiety was my birthright. Working for someone who apparently can't function on a timetable, who can't organize her projects and deadlines, is really, really, really, really bad for me.
I'm going to have to talk with her about this to get it off my chest, but I know that it will change nothing.
Sigh.
/rant Thanks for listening. NRN.
