Excellent movie.
However, that whole thing happened when I was around 13-14 and I can't remember too much about it all. The movie made the Hutus out to be the supreme evil beings. Is that correct?
As well, it really makes you gasp at how many places around the world are fucked up beyond belief. And how sick human's can be.
One more thing, Nick Nolte is not a good cast as a Canadian.

I agree, excellent movie. I remember when it happened and was mortified that the US would do nothing. Wrote letters, called the PTB, to no avail. There was nothing to be gained politically so no one cared much. There were a couple celebrities as I recall, but can't remember which ones as I really don't pay much attention to them, that tried to make some noise about it, but ultimately the film shows a very good depiction of actual events and world response.
It was and it still remains a terrible shame for my view of this country, along with the nuclear bombing of the Japanese, the enslavement of Africans here and the genocide of the indigenous people of this country.
I've been paying attention a very long time and really do not like where this country has gone. I actually fear seeing where it is going, but keep watching anyway because I might miss something important.
This from a lifelong optimist!! I still see many good individuals and this gives me hope for the future though.

3. The Belgians were the real villains |

When the trouble started they were safely back in Europe, pretty much, while generations of oppression and abuse played themselves out in incredible savagery and brutality.
And the Republicans were much more interested in Clinton's penis than in taking any sort of action to stop the killing.
Nolte might be a poor Canadian but his character told it like it was/is.
Nobody gave a crap because it was only africans killing africans.
