One exactly like this sat on my mother's desk for as far back as I can remember.

We used them every day when I was a child! My grandfather wore them out every couple of years.

10. oh yeah! my dad had one similar to it

i used to love to play with it, then when i was old enough, he let me do his bookwork with it! i was in heaven. i wonder where that went.... my brother may have it stashed in his shed with tons of other relics....

12. no shit! i tell him this all the time!

he is always complaining how broke he is, and i tell him over and over to get in that shed and on ebay, and he'd be a zillionaire! he has my (dead) aunt's fencing mask from college, circa 1927. lots of stuff like that just sitting and rotting, while he is broke. good god........
