1. Oh, my stars. We talked about that in civics class, 9th grade. |
|
LOL. Our teacher was a commy fearing McCarthyite. She taught us that marijuana is an EVIL drug. To this day I still relate the two.

I thought Alan Cummings was really good in this (guy at the podium lecturing the parents). The role suited him.
Actually it was campy and over-the-top enough that I kind of enjoyed it. I thought there were some excellent references to the power of the press in it...especially how it can be used as a tool to demonize pretty darn near anything it wants.

6. Musical comedies can be a lot of fun... |
|
Lets see.. There's "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum", "Rocky Horror Picture Show", the new "Producers" tho I preferred the older film, just off the top of my head. I think the problem is that the form really sags with poor material. When a musical is bad... it's really bad.

5. Used to watch the original in the 70's at the midnight movies |
|
Everybody sat right there in the theater and lit up. Nobody gave a damn.
It was a different America back then, and I miss it.

That film is funny as shit!
At least you can watch it at home now (something we obviously could not do back then).

8. A Reefer Madness DVD was released with commentary by Mike Nelson |
|
... from MST3K. It was colorized amusingly as well. I enjoyed that version a lot. Makes a perfect midnight movie.
