About anything. Art. Music. Writing.

I'm all ears.

3. Not reading much lately...
Was reading "Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man" by James Joyce.

I'm still trying to get back into Shakespeare, but still haven't decided what to read yet. I'm leaning toward "The Merry Wives of Windsor" but haven't decided yet.

I can tell you've had more than a few tonight...

Do me a favor, and dream of me tonight.

Perhaps you and I walking down a California beach, arm in arm, the sunlight reflecting off your auburn brown hair...

Building a fire in the sand at dusk.

Kissing. Drinking Champaign as the waves roll over us...

I'll be waiting.

His observations between the romantic mind and the classical mind are right on. The simile about the train is perfect!

60 miles out west, on the border of Cow Country.

Otherwise, do you think I'd be spending a Saturday night posting on-line?

13. Hey man
I'm all by myself tonuight, too, but I don't mind. I guess I'm a rare type that doesn't feel the need to get out and be social every once in a while, although I am going to the Great Lakes meetup on the 30th to hang out with some of my DU bretheren and sisteren :) I'm also going to a conference for a mental health organization a few days before that because I have a special interest in the topic: schizophrenia. So, are there any things on the schedule later on down the road that you will be doing? I would imagine that a man who is interested in the arts could find stimulating company if he wanted to.

I wish I could do it every night instead of just dreaming about it.

I did a few months ago and wish I was listening to him now. His stories as much as his music. This fall he will embark on the Alice's Restaurant 40th Anniversary Massacre Tour.

24. I'm not alone tonight exactly, but it sure feels like it.
It kind of sucks, for the first time in a while. I've gotten used to being alone, relying on myself for support, for more than one year now. As I've posted before, the last of my long-term friendships died during the election cycle, (those with people who didn't understand what I was "getting so upset over politics" for) and much of my family either didn't vote, or voted for Bush. I'm sitting in front of my two roommates right now, some of the only people on earth who see me every day and feeling just a tad upset that they don't understand or care about my interest in The Cause, the pain I have been in since the election or my own personal struggles. They don't know me at all. It's going to take me a long time to be able to rebuild my social life, I've just realized.

Okay, but about all of you: Longgrain, if you're still undecided about Shakespeare--of course, for plays, I recommend "MacBeth," but perhaps you have already read that or aren't interested in that one--have you ever explored his sonnets? If not, that could be a fun thing for you to do. When I ran out of interest in finishing the plays I had not yet read a few years back, I switched to the sonnets for a bit and discovered a whole new world of untapped Shakespeare joy.

31. Thanks for your post BlueIris.
I'm still torn myself between reading, writing, painting, cartooning, and posting in the next Jimmy Jazz thread.

Maybe someday I'll figure out what I'm supposed to be doing.

Until then...here's to us all...:toast:

32. Hi! Just talk sounds good to me...
So you're listening to Bob Dylan...I'm listening to a mockingbird outside my study window. Many years ago, my husband spent a few minutes for several evenings in a row going outside. There he would whistle a few simple notes. Not too many days later, the mockingbird picked it up and incorporated my husband's melody into his song! It was the damnest thing I ever heard a wild bird do!

I love those birds. To me, it is the sound of spring.

Are you out near Wayland? My older daughter and son-in-law live out there. It is such pretty country. The last time we were visiting, she took us to the deCordoba (spelling?) museum. Fabulous place...

Got to go; time to make dinner. Later, Longgrain!

Alone. Lonely. But don't want to talk, particularly.
Just would be nice to have some company to snuggle up and watch a movie or listen to some tunes, and just 'be'.
