I watched "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" tonight.
What a bizarrely wonderful movie.

I don't know what else to say, but I liked, a lot. :)

1. It's a great movie
I first saw it a few months ago.

Another movie I recently saw where I thought a usually comedic actor did a great job in a serious role: Six Degrees of Separation, with Will Smith.

21. are you the one who tipped me off about the scene with the book titles?
I recall it was someone on DU who mentioned it. I ended up getting the DVD and was so into the film that by the time it happened, I hadn't even noticied. I ended up watching it again and re-playing that part several times, just to see if I could detect when the first title disappeared.

5. IMHO, one of the best movies ever made
so wonderfully done in its thoughtfulness, emotion, and of course the acting is incredible. I've only seen it once and can't wait to see it again in order to attempt to disect all it's layers.

9. I have heard that its very good but I just can't get myself to watch it
because it has Jim Carrey in it and his style of comedy reminds me too much of Jerry Lewis who I absolutely hate. Tonite I did watch Jean Renoir's "Grand Illusion" on TCM it is a magnificent film.

13. He's not like himself in it at all.
I do like him in his comedy rolls, but never in his "serious rolls", but in this I loved him, he was great!

It's a really weird, but wonderful movie. :hi:

20. he seemed "real"
like just any ordinary person you'd pass on the street, as did kate Winslet, that's what made it so good.

"Joel, I'm not a concept. Too many guys think I'm a concept or I complete them or I'm going to make them alive, but I'm just a fucked up girl who is looking for my own peace of mind. Don't assign me yours."

23. Terrific ending
I like that it's and ending you can picture as happy or sad (I choose happy) but they still tackle the problem that they already broke up once. Maybe they will again.

But they get together again, anyway. Such a movie!

22. One of the best movies of last year, IMO
and, I think it was overlooked by a lot of people.

I really, really, really liked that movie.

It just perfectly captures relationships.

and say that it was the best movie of last year. By far.

I love everything Charlie Kaufman has written.

My goodness--I wasn't expecting her storyline.

Can't believe you haven't seen it until now! Aren't you glad?

Great film, wonderful--did you catch in the beginning when he saw the house someone whispered "David"? I thought I was a weirdo (plus, I generally spent time back then thinking about a guy named David) until later in the film!

I was so very impressed with Jim Carrey in that film, and damn if Kate Winslet doesn't sound just like an American in it.

:hi:

Loved it. I would love any movie that had a night club with Joan Of Arc introducing Jesus, who drops to the stage on a neon cross surrounded by showgirls.;)

34. That movie was fantastic
It was far superior to the Aviator or Million Dollar Baby IMHO. I normally cannot stand Jim Carrey but he was wonderful. And Kate Winslet, well she's fantastic.
