Have your pets ever watched T.V.?
I remember a dog that my family used to have. A couple of times, she would just get fixated on the tv. One time she was staring at it during a Saturday Night Live sketch. She was transfixed. I then blocked her view with my hand and then she moved her head down. Then I moved my hand down and she moved her head back up. It is funny as hell.

1. One night a couple years ago I was watching the Croc Hunter
in bed and he had a show on about sea turtles. So he was on the beach watching all the baby sea turtles hatch and head down to the water. My cat who was laying on the bed jumped up and climbed up on the shelf that held the tv and then got on top of the tv and tried to bat at the baby sea turtles.

2. Of course they do.
Mine barked to warn people on the screen who were about to be jumped by the bad guys. She can never catch that darn dog that sneaks out the side of the TV.

I know other dogs who love TV -- and have seen photos of dogs watching.

Cats sometimes will watch TV.

There are Cat and Dog videos -- for the TV watching Pets.

3. Oh, yeah.
Our cat, Ginger, watches TV, although as a responsible human, I limit his TV time to mostly nature programs. Once, I was watching a documentary about feral cats in Germany, and Ginger just flipped out, arching his back, etc. We now avoid cat documentaries.

4. My pug does everyday
Any time he sees an animal he runs up and barks. He watches golf and baseball. He also dislikes babies. I love Animal Planet but I have to sneak it. I wish I'd get around to figuring out how to post a picture of my cutie.

5. When my cat watches Animal Planet or his "kitty porn" tape
Edited on Sun Apr-17-05 12:52 AM by nuxvomica
he tries to get in the back of the TV cabinet cuz he figures the animals are back there. What a stupid cat!
The "kitty porn" tape shows various closeup scenes of mice, hamsters, birds and goldfish with a bird chirp soundtrack. It never fails to hold is interest.

edit: typo

6. my kittens loved football.
they could sit on the teevee and try to smoosh players.

but my old female, while watching animal planet's emergency vets, had a scene where a fluffy cat zooms towards the camera and she watched and went towards the TV.
the cat looked like her 'mate'.
although i really think she is a lesbian.

7. Yes, occasionally.
But we also keep our betta on top of the entertainment center. Sometimes we have to check the cats' lines of vision to see if they are watching TV or caseing out the fish.

8. Pretty much every day.
She prefers to watch action movies and sports and Animal Planet, of course, although the sound effects on CSI sometimes catch her attention. Law and Order puts her to sleep.

9. Einstein watched it every day
When I left for work we was sitting on the futon and watching TV. When I came home and stated watching he stared at the TV. He was just a couch potato and I miss him

11. My cat got fascinated when we watched "Stuart Little"
There was a scene with Stuart (the mouse) and the cat and Oops got right in front of the TV and began gently batting at it. I'm not sure if it was the mouse or the cat that had him so bemused but it was very, very cute.

14. Yes!
My oldest dog was a puppy mill rescue that I got at nine months of age. He grew up with 60 other dogs and had never even been inside a building. For the first year I had him he made me feel just terrible because every time there was a doggie on tv he was nose to nose with it barking and pawing at the screen. I relented and got a puppy to keep him company. Now I have two dogs that watch tv. Their favorite thing to watch is dog shows - although just about anything with animals gets their attention. Sometmes they will watch uninterrupted for a half hour or so.

15. My cats
They used to watch some nature shows. One of them, Sebastian, would walk up to the tv and try to touch the animal and then realize he was touching glass. He then walked away, looking embarrassed. THis happened a few times and eventually he stopped watching tv. He didn't wanted to get fooled again!!
