Help me buy a bicycle!
Hello friends! This summer I will be purchasing a bicycle. I need to be able to take it off road, but nothing too strenuous, and will also be riding it on road a bit. Does anyone have any bike-advice? I am looking to spend about five hundred, but can go to a thousand for this sound investment.

1. If you are looking for an all-around bike
they call it a "hybrid" now. They're in the style of a mountain bike but with less off-roady features -- tires aren't as fat and it's a good general bike. Five hundred should get you a pretty nice bike although you want to also put aside $$ for accessories such as a helmet, a seat bag with your tire repair kit, a good pump, extra tubes and so on.

I'd just visit bike shops and ride some to see what you feel like. They can also help you pick the right bike to fit your body size.

2. crispini's advice is excellent and, I would add, that
if you haven't posted this in the cycling forum, you may want to try there as well. :hi:

5. It's been a while since I've ridden, but I have a gorgeous
Cannondale I rode religiously. I got a little spooked more than once by people not looking out for cyclists so I've cut back a lot. But, I still do some rides around here on occassion.

:hi:

6. This is the bike I just bought.
It is a hybrid, it is most sweet. Try to get last years model, they are usually being put on sale right about now. Ask the dealer if you can a deal if you buy one from last year.
