When should I see my GP?
The one who likes to blame everything on 'anxiety' despite revelations of significant health problems...

My fasting glucose level continues to rise. The morning value is now 123 and there are physiological effects too, albeit not all of the most significant ones (peeing 7 times per night, let's say.) So I am now glucose impaired or pre-diabetic.

Due to other health problems at the moment, I cannot do any exercise other than walking... hopefully this'll be rectified in 3 weeks. So no treadmill, no running, no anything. And I can't walk for a long period of time before I start sweating gallons, it's gross. I was at the book store last night, reading up on diabetes with one hand, using a sopped hanky in the other to deflect sweat from my eyes as contact made my eyes very itchy.

At what point will my system start to shut down, though I'm sure I've got the remaining time before I (hopefully) get the all-clear to do more streneous exercise again and try to reverse myself before diabetes becomes a reality?

Thanks!

1. First off...
if your GP blames everything on "anxiety"...GET A NEW GP. Seriously. Don't tolerate that bullshit. Get yourself to someone who will take your health seriously.

3. Yep
What a lot of people don't realize is that the doctor is supposed to be working for you. You're the boss. That's not to say that you should treat the doctor as anything other than a professional, but when you realize that a doctor could be making a mistake it's time to move on.

2. I think you may want a second opinion.
I would think that the GP would have long since sent you to an endochrinologist! If these symptoms have been occurring for a while (and there's a test that can tell generally what your blood sugar level has been for the past several weeks), he should have referred you to a specialist for diagnosis. Having lost a friend to a diabetic coma who turned down my offer of a ride to the hospital emergency room the night before, figuring he just needed a good nights sleep, I now don't suggest taking any chances. I kick myself everytime I think of him for not insisting.

4. You definitely need a second opinion and
a full blood workup. It could be something very simple and you're anxious with worry right now!

5. I'd rather it be the initial formation of diabetes.
I've always wanted one of those overpriced bracelets. Now I'll have 2 reasons to wear one!

6. Dude
I said this on the other thread, and will say it again here. See an endocrinologist. A fasting of 123 is not terrible, but you should have a full fasting panel and Hemoglobin A1C done. The spiffy bracelet is not worth this worry or drama. See the endo, find out what's going on, and yes, get the bracelet. They come in all kinds of great colors now ;)
