People are f-ing LAZY
They are.

I was thinking about energy and how we use too much of it and I was thinking quite seriously that people don't really have to drastically change their lifestyles to use less. All that stuff we learned in grammar school like "turn the lights off when you leave" and "Turn the water off when brushing your teeth;" Nobody fucking does it!

They did a test at my school where they hired a guy to turn off the lights in all the buildings - make sure they were off in the classrooms. Actually, it was more than one guy. They found out they saved more on electricity than it was to pay them.

People are lazy too; hardly anyone just WALKS down the block they have to drive, because they certainly can't sweat. Bike or something.

Greed is a problem too. Everyone has to have their own car. I would be more than happy without one, but there's NO public transport in my hometown. Everything's so far apart thanks to the miracle of Urban Sprawl that biking really is out of the question.

If only we had a better railroad system as well as public transportation and the majority of people weren't so lazy and greedy.

NOTE: This doesn't apply to most of you, I know. But I bet it does to some of you. Jerks. I just wanted to post this somewhere, and everyone I know are mainly loungy-folk.

1. fortunately the public transportation here in Germany is quite good
unless you live in a real URBAN area. Since I am living in a big city I am really thinking of selling my car, because I barely use it. and when I want to go long distance I can take the train.

I try to save energy and water. Hey, I even put water in a glass when I brush my teeth. That is they way I learned it when I grew up. It is easier that way to get the water in the mouth the clean it :)

2. Oh, Europe makes me so jealous!
I've only been to England and was floored by the rail system. If only we had something like that in the US and people weren't so gungho on having to have a car.

I also use a glass of water to brush my teeth. Some do this, but they also just leave the water running.

UGH!

6. I know what you mean
I always turn off the lights because my dad drilled it in my head when I was a kid. But I am struck by how many people at work will CALL someone who is just a few cubes away - and then complain they can't lose any weight.

I absolutely agree that too many Americans are greedy and lazy - who the f*** needs these big-ass ugly houses and SUVs? Most of them DON'T need thm - they just WANT them. I find it all quite sickening.

8. I walk to work
I would actually hate to drive, I get to meander along a quiet road where the birds are singing merrily, I usually pass a couple of people (round here people do tend to say 'good morning'), even in winter or when it's raining it makes a big difference just to get out into the open air. Then I reach a busier road, and can see all of the people in cars getting frustrated, and being isolated from the rest of the universe.
