3. PLEASE let them tour while I have the money!
I just came into a small (*small*) bit of money, and I most certainly will put some money away in case they decide to play a few dates.

I've never seen them live and I...simply....must....Bono.....Larry...Edge...Adam....must...do....it.
It's almost a joke now, if I have no money U2 must be touring...

Thanks for the heads up, even wrote it on my calendar. Awesome. Politically themed guitar album, aww yeah.

4. You haven't seen a concert until you've seen U2 live
I've seen them 5 times so far.

Just watching Bono and the crowd is worth the price of admission.

I've been to a lot of concerts, and Bono's relationship with the crowd is the most active and sincere that I've ever seen.

The crowd just loves them, and they show they love the crowd.

13. ARGH! Don't make it worse, LOL!
I have the cheesy concert *videos*.....but it isn't even close, I know. I have just adored all four of them for over 10 years, and I always miss it.

6. Rockin'
I LOVE U2. They're priceless. I got to see the 20th Anniversery exhibt at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Unbelievable, it was really comprehensive and they had tons of rare and cool items. Coming from someone who works in theatre/film, U2 always has the BEST production values for their tours. Far beyond anything, Pop Mart nearly topped The Wall, IMO, as the greatest tour concept/design ever!

I can only imagine the money, creativity, and sheer spectacle that will be the next tour. Sadly, you have to pay for what you get, that's why tickets are always so darn expensive. With such a massive tour overhead, charging $100-200 for good tickets will probably be normal.

7. awesome news
I have heard from various sources that this is indeed a very angry record. I can't wait. What has happened over the three years since ATYCLB should make for some good old rock and roll.

I can't believe I have to wait that long, but its usually worth it with U2.

<-------

SOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :loveya:
I am going to see them live if it kills me, I have never seen them live and who knows if they will tour again.

They are supposed to be touring this summer. There are rumors that the tour is going to be even more extravagant than Zoo TV and Popmart, but those are only rumors not official information, so who knows.

If you want a good place to get the latest album/tour information or just to talk about U2 go to www.interference.com. There's a news setion on the front page, but there's more stuff if you go to Forum ---> Everything You Know is Wrong ---> subforum Where the Album Has No Name. If you decide to register my username is ILuvLarryMullen :)

9. thanks for the link
never seen the boys play eh? You should make sure you see them on back to back nights this time around. I would bet they will play on forever but ATYCLB had them in thier absolute prime.

I personally hope the shows are more ZooTv than popmart. Zoo TV had an edge and a message. Popmart was more of a "how big and irreverant can we get" but it still rocked.

from the front row. only $45, too. and got to meet bono, too.
needless to say, it was one of the best days of my life

word of advice: if you plan on going, join the fan club by subscribing to propaganda. it's only $10 (or at least it was when i signed up). you get much, much better tickets that way

and stick around after the show. they usually have two band members do a signing (they alternate between bono and edge)

--and i don't think this band is going to quit playing live anytime soon

personally, i think zootv was their best tour. the media stuff really worked for me

14. Boycott
Bono supported Bush (I remember the pic, that's good enough for me) and I already boycott the RIAA. No new pop albums for me and what little I still do buy is foreign. Bono supports the RIAA as I recall as well...

I don't need to go hungry just to support his already rich estate.

16. Bono supports whoever
He has an agenda. A good one, but he'll suck up to anyone to further his (IMO, just) cause.

17. bono does not support bush
trust me. If he went around calling Bush an ass it would seriously hurt his cause of debt relief.

There are photos of Larry Mullen (the band's drummer) at an anti-war protest in Ireland.
The Edge (guitar)has said that he is sick of seeing Bono shaking hands with dodgy politicians, but realizes why he is doing it.

Bono does not like bush, trust me, it's just a crappy thing he has to deal with for a greater good. If wouldn't matter who the president was, he'd still be doing it. He does what he has too for his cause.

He also made Jessie Helms cry, that's gotta get him a couple of points doesn't it ;)?

20. clearing things up
Tuesday, 4 Mar 2003
Irish rocker Bono has slammed British Prime Minister Tony Blair for his support of President George W. Bush's hardline stance on Iraq. The U2 star conceded that Blair was acting out of moral conviction but insists the leader is gravely wrong. Speaking Friday after receiving the insignia of a Knight of the Legion of Honor in Paris from French President Jacques Chirac, Bono says, "In my opinion Tony Blair is a great politician. His convictions about Iraq are sincere, but for me he is sincerely wrong."

Bono says he had a 'good ole row' with President Bush over AIDS spending

JOE CAREY

WASHINGTON (AP) - Bono, the Irish rock star and social activist, said Tuesday he had a "good ole row" with President George W. Bush over global AIDS funding.

"He's very passionate about these problems and I believe him," Bono said after their White House meeting. "I just can't agree with the numbers." Bush signed the Global AIDS Act in May that authorized $3 billion US to fund global AIDS programs for 2004, but Congress has allocated only $2 billion. Both the president and members of Congress say developing countries wouldn't be able to make use of the extra money.

Bono told the crowd, among other things: "The war against terrorism is bound up in the war on poverty." At one point he declared: "I don't want to die stupid." He also announced he was a "fan" of America and wasn't leaving anytime soon. He said that Clinton was "more of a rock star than any in this room" — which was saying a lot.

23. Thanks, everyone, for the clarification!
There's still the RIAA issue, and with my hatred of the RIAA I still have to boycott.

But, yeah, I did brush up on Bono and he's definitely cool.

Next time I'll look before I leap! :D

18. Funny story
A guy I used to know said he saw U2 at Toad's Place in New Haven, CT back on their first US tour. It was on of their first 2 or 3 stops. It was cold and snowy and there were only a handful of people there. He said they opened with "I Will Follow", ended with "I Will Follow", and their encore was "I Will Follow".

I've seen then live like 8 times and have to agree, they are great. First time I saw them was on the Unforgettable Fire tour, last time was the Zoo TV tour. Still the only band that I go out of my way to purchase every release. Most of the old stuff 3 times. First on cassette, then vinyl, now CD. Please, no more formats!

There was no better concert experience than being with a group of 10,000 people walking to their cars, all singing "40", all the way. Unreal.

19. I'm not getting excited.
U2's last few albums were way over-hyped. I'm a big huge fan of U2 though so I hope it comes out good.
