Richie Havens' version of 10CC's "I'm Not In Love" has always been one of the most wonderful, heartfelt performances in the history of music. I have the original vinyl album of the first of two from this set, "The End Of The Beginning." I waited patiently for its release on CD. It never happened.
Unfortunately, Richie has never been "mainstream" (other than the obligatory 15 minutes of fame that came from his performance of "Freedom" in "Woodstock")...BUT...the Hip-O Select label (a Universal label in competition with Rhino) has merged his two A&M albums onto one CD, "Dreaming As One: The A&M Years." If you've ever been in love...or you think that someday you might be in love before you die...TRUST ME. TRUST your pal, Bush_Eats_Beef...this CD will MAKE YOU frigging CRY, over and over and over again. His version of James Taylor's "You Can Close Your Eyes" will make the hairs on the back of your arms stand at attention. This is AS GOOD AS IT GETS. It's honest, it hits a nerve.
