Okay I am an American Liberal Ex-Catholic Woman

We have a conservative President. We have a conservative Pope. Serious bummers. I am trying hard to remember if there is anything good about the world right now. Life seriously sucks in my book right now.

Let me say I do know it could be worse but then I just feel bad that anyone has it bad and the guilt comes.

I have my family, my dog, and Julian Mcmahon on TV but as greatful as I am for those things I need some more reminders of the good stuff. Particulary reasons why I should stay hopeful for the future. Can anyone else help out here?

16. I've always thought

that the more conservative the U.S. becomes, the more it needs good, intelligent, compassionate liberal people like me to carry on and one day overcome.

The more conservative the church becomes (I'm a practicing Catholic) the more it needs the voices and conscience of it's more Christ-like, more liberal adherents.

There are sweet kitties in the world. Amazing sunrises abound. Wonderful, fragile and kind people still exist in abundance. They're quieter now, but they're here.

17. it's spring and the woods smell great.

everything is tinted with green, its not full yet, but will be shortly. it smells fantastic, the leaves from last year are decaying and a fresh turned earth smell is hanging in the air. its mixing with that fresh spring smell that soap makers spend millions trying to copy and just never get right.

I did shut off the TV and went and took a walk with dog, and watched nature's version of a cardinal sitting in the tree singing. I liked the bird a lot better.
